The Bayfront
For many who live in Corpus Christi, taking Ocean Drive to work can be a relaxing preparation for a long day or a small reward for having just endured one. Corpus Christi's 3.5-mile-long bayfront seawall has steps similar to those found in stadiums, with one important difference: No admission fee, ever - for fireworks shows, sailboat races or windsurfing regattas, or for fishing or just looking out at the water, the ships and the birds.

Gardens are colorful and serene
Site offers plumeria, sensory gardens, trails that focus on birding, wetlands. The Corpus Christi Botanical Gardens, 8545 S. Staples St., is a 180-acre site along Oso Creek that showcases colorful, exotic floral exhibits blended with areas of native habitats and natural wetlands. Major floral exhibits include the Orchid House, Exhibit House, Plumeria collection, Hibiscus Garden, Sensory Garden, Hummingbird Garden, Arid Garden, Rose Garden and Rose Garden Pavilion.
