Some dismiss Spanglish, or Tex-Mex, the mixing of English and Spanish, as a bastard tongue. You are reading a bastard tongue.
"This phenomenon of language mixing, it doesn't only happen in South Texas," said Javier Villarreal, chairman of humanities and a Spanish professor at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. "Whenever we have two languages in contact, this is what happens."
In other words, isn't it nice that we have our own language in South Texas?
