A message from the New Media Director

With many new sections added to Caller.com since it was redesigned three years ago, the site was due for a major overhaul.

The new site is now organized into nine news categories and nine channels. (Channels are self-contained sites that are generally independent of news content. They appear right at the top of the page.)

With this site-wide organization, we believe Caller.com is now simpler to navigate, especially for new users. But we recognize that change can be disconcerting to many users who have grown comfortable with the old site. So we have implemented a help system that should make it a breeze to find old favorites:

  1. Use the keyword finder at the top of every page. Click on "What is keyword" to learn more about it.
  2. If you don't find what you are looking for when you use the keyword finder, a site index and keyword list will pop up to offer suggestions.
  3. If all fails, we offer live help during office hours which are Mondays to Fridays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Call Support at 361-886-4392. After hours, e-mail support@caller.com.
With the redesign, Caller.com now has several new features including:
  1. A one-stop destination to check area events and entertainment called Around Town. This section has a movie channel in which you can browse for theater listings or look up a movie review . Movie clips will be added soon. This was one of the most asked-for features for the new site.
  2. Each editorial now carries a comment box so that users can discuss the editorial and offer alternative views.
  3. Many users have requested a Religion section, and you will find one under the Living section.
  4. The weather section has been revamped and now carries more information for the weather buff.
More new features are being implemented. For example, you can look forward to a Visitors Guide channel next week, and by Thanksgiving, a Shopping channel as well.

Finally, do give us feedback. Those of us who work on web sites say that a good web site is never really 'done.' It needs to be evolving to meet users' needs. So keep the suggestions and comments coming for your Caller.com.
