Through the sands of time

Adan Garcia picks up shells near Horace Caldwell Pier.
Looking for seashells was like looking for eggs at Easter, you could say.
But before we hunted the beach near Horace Caldwell Pier in Port Aransas, Sharon Schafer, who leads a monthly beachcombing walk, talked to us about shells, explaining the different kinds
and what they look like. She also talked about the beach.

Here are shells we looked at before we went out on our own to search.
Then we went looking for shells for ourselves. While finding the shells we would hurriedly run back to Schafer to ask “What is this?” or “What’s that?” After collecting the shells and learning all about them we decided to hit the waves.
While swimming we got a quick lesson on a surfboard and boogie board.
I tried the surfboard and didn’t get anywhere, but I really liked the boogie board. I got two really big waves. It was great. Time was flying and soon it was time for our field trip to come to an end. We finished our trip off with a few pictures for memories.
