Explore, enjoy South Texas living

Welcome
to what we plan to be the first of an annual Guide to South Texas Living. This
publication is meant to be useful and entertaining for newcomers and visitors
alike.
In it you'll find nuts-and-bolts information for those just getting
started here: laws specific to our city and our beaches, what's going on in the
housing market, hurricane evacuation routes, and trash and brush pickup rules.
You'll also find stories that give you a dose of our culture and
history, including one on the roots of the churches in town and another on the
volunteers who rescue and rehabilitate injured dolphins at the Texas State Aquarium.
If you are a sportsman, outdoors writer David Sikes shares secrets
on the best fishing in our region. If you love music, our arts and entertainmnet
reporter shares insight into various music venues.
An annual calendar of regional festivals and events is ready for
clipping. And restaurant reviews are summarized in a list with information on
food and pricing.
This is a family publication, so we've included details on schools,
soccer leagues and programs at libraries, among other features for children.
South Texas is a beautiful, friendly community. We want this guide
to help you enjoy it more.
