    Carroll running out of options
When Johnny Smith graduated and took his more than 2,000 rushing yards with him two years ago, everyone wondered how Carroll could possibly replace him. Faced with what looked like a massive void to fill, Carroll simply slipped Ted Barnhart into Smith's vacated role and watched as Barnhart topped his predecessor, rushing for more than 2,500 yards. King is on a playoff chase
The way Moody coach Steve Castillo describes it, King coach Jim Elam has a plan to turn around a program within three seasons. The way Elam talks about it, there is no solid plan. He said it just takes time for the coaching staff and the players to come together and form a common bond. Whatever the means, the positive results could be at hand. FULL STORY »

    Miller’s defense starts now
A year ago, conventional thought was that Jim Gupton may have to start looking for employment elsewhere outside the Corpus Christi Independent School District. In his first three seasons as Miller High School's football coach and athletics coordinator, Gupton's teams combined for an unspectacular 3-27 record. FULL STORY »

    Moody: Filling in the blanks
Just a quick glance at the lack of returning skill players makes it seem like it's time for Moody to scrap its spread offense. The quarterback who brilliantly ran the offense is gone. The trio of receivers that hauled in pass after pass and gave opposing defenses fits are all gone. The leading returning wide receiver - with six catches - is competing for the quarterback job. The complete package
Gary Turberville isn't much for hyping up his own players to the press, especially in the preseason. The way he figures it, no one on his team has played a single snap in 2002, so what have they done to earn public praise? Even though the veteran coach, who is entering his 10th season at Ray, is not big on August compliments, Travis Wheat is so good that even Turberville slips up when his quarterback's name is mentioned. Victoria Memorial: New district foe
All the history between Victoria and the Corpus Christi Independant School District schools is pretty much lost on this year's version of the Memorial Vipers. FULL STORY »
