How to choose a MANUFACTURED HOME

Tips:

Figure out what type of manufactured home you need. Will you need a single-wide, a double-wide, or a triple-wide home?

Check your credit and budget for what you can afford. Buy accordingly.

Check out the staff a dealer employs. Are they courteous and professional?

Make sure you can tour any of the homes they have on site.

Be sure they can deliver the home to a community that you’ve chosen.

The decision to purchase and own a manufactured home is as important as finding a ready-built home. There are questions you need to ask a dealer before making any down payments.

The first thing you should do is figure out what type of manufactured home you need. Will you need a single-wide, a double-wide or a triple-wide home?

Then check your credit and budget for what you can afford. Just like purchasing a site-built home, a dealer will want to know your financial status.

When you make the trip to a manufactured-home dealer, check out the staff. Are they courteous and professional? Will they easily answer any questions you might have? You don’t want to buy a home from a dealership that is interested only in making a quick sale.

Ask if you can tour any of the homes they have on site. Is the home well constructed? Are there any signs that the home has been previously owned? Try to find out about some of the materials used to build the home. Are they high- quality materials? See if the dealer can provide any warranties on the home. You might also ask if they know what kind of insurance you might need to buy for your new home. Be sure to have everything you need outlined in a contract. Make sure they can deliver the home to the community that you’ve chosen. Don’t assume that delivery is implied in the contract.

Buying a home is a big decision, so carefully research your investment.
