How to choose a MANUFACTURED HOME COMMUNITY

Tips:

Consider the location of the community. What kinds of schools are nearby? Is it in a desirable location?

Make sure the community you’re considering is designed to be compatible with all HUD code homes.

Be sure to ask about any insurance you may need to have prior to moving into the community.

Ask other residents about the community. Do they like it? Is the community relatively safe?

Choosing a community to place your manufactured home is a big decision. It’s important tofind out as much as you can about the community.

For instance, according to Jan Patterson of Misty Winds Mobile Home Community, consider location. What kinds of schools are nearby? Are there stores and entertainment options close? Is it near where you work? Is it in a desirable location? A manufactured home community should have the curb appeal of a housing subdivision.

Make sure that a community you’re considering is designed to be compatible with all HUD code manufactured homes and check to see if there is professional on-site management. Be sure to ask about any insurance you may need to have prior to moving into the community. Find out what the payments are for living in the community are.

See what kind of amenities the community offers. Are there any pools or fitness centers? Any business or community centers? Try to ask other residents about the community. Do they like it? Are the services the community offers any good? Is the community relatively safe? Has there been any crime recently?

A community should provide its residents with a comfortable living environment. If you don’t find yourself comfortable at one community, keep looking.

Checking out a manufactured home community is as important as selecting a ready built home in a neighborhood.
