How to choose a BOAT DEALER

Tips:

Before you start looking at boating dealerships, ask yourself:

Who will use my boat?

Just family or will friends be onboard?

How often will your boat be used?

During those times, how long will it be used?

Where will you use the boat? On the ocean, a lake, or a river?

Check to see if the boat comes with any warranty.

Before purchasing the boat, talk to experienced boat owners.

You want to buy a boat, but you aren’t sure on where to begin. Before you start looking at boating dealerships, there are some questions you should answer personally to find out what kind of boat will best suit your needs.

Ask yourself:

  • Who will use my boat? Just family or will friends be onboard?

  • How often will your boat be used? During those times, how long will it be used?

  • Where will you use the boat? On the ocean, a lake, or a river?

Also, be sure to think about how much you can spend on the boat. When you purchase a boat, you are also going to be purchasing insurance, maintenance, and registration fees.

Ask about the craft’s safety features and if it comes with any installed options or accessories . If you’re considering buying a used boat, there are some things to look for. Does the boat have any mismatched paint? This could indicate a boat that has been in an accident and had repairs made.

Is the boat clean and presentable? Does it come with a warranty against any problems that might occur such as engine trouble?

Before purchasing any boat, talk to experienced boat owners. Find out what types of features they like and don’t like on their own boats. They may also have suggestions on what types of boats handle better than others. As far as the dealership goes, make sure that it is credible and that they don’t try to sell you something you don’t need. Buying a boat is a major investment.
