How to select an AUCTIONEER

Tips:

Take the time to check auctioneer’s credentials, experience, and references.

Understand the rules each auction house has. Find out what they are and follow them.

Make sure that you can view the items up for auction before hand so that you have an idea of what you’d like to purchase.

In the days of old, most auctions were limited to estates and livestock. In today’s world, the auctioneer sells real estate, automobiles, heavy equipment, industrial machinery, business liquidations, estates, charitable events, and government auctions.

The ability to talk fast is a necessary but minor part in what the auctioneer does. Today, auctioneers specialize in specific areas, like cattle/livestock, antiques, or automobiles; while others have auction houses and sell everything from estates/general merchandise to equipment. On-site auction specialists are, most often, the most qualified auctioneer to sell your business or estate, as they direct the buyers to your home or place of business.

If you choose to use the services of an auctioneer, take the time to check their credentials, experience, and references. Auctioneers at the top of thei

r profession will belong to several associations, earning one or several designations pertaining to their field. Auctioneers handle your money, so be sure to choose a qualified auctioneer with credentials and references, and with whom you feel comfortable with.

John Sisk Auctioneers has more than filled these qualifications and has handled the City of Corpus Christi’s auction sales since 1983.

This year, Sisk Auctioneers is celebrating 21 years in the business. Sisk, a member and three-term board member of the Texas Auctioneers Association, maintains a website, www.siskauction. com.

Sisk has earned awards at the auctioneers’ competitions, placing in the top five nearly every time he has entered. He has also earned recognition for appraisal work. A member of the National Auctioneers Association and co-founder of The Fellowship of Christian Auctioneers Inter-national, Sisk is a true professional in auctioneering.
