David Sikes' tips on how to get your photograph published
I have republished below the loose criteria to get your photos published, including some suggestions for making your celluloid memories even better. E-mail your photos to sikesd@caller.com
- Photos of a hunter, triumphantly clutching a beer can in one hand and a rifle in the other, while straddling a bloody buck lying in the bed of a pickup will not make it.
- And guys: Keep your shirts on. Women, too.
- We also frown on severed animal heads, gaping exit wounds and tongues hanging from of the mouths of deer and hogs.
- Please resist the urge to perch a rifle-toting toddler near a trophy animal killed by an adult.
Additional guidelines for the Outdoors Gallery published in the newspaper:
- Subjects should have a local connection.
- No guides, please.
- Photos must be in good taste.
- Please include children's ages.
- Please include cities of residence for all subjects.
- Please list the county/body of water in which the animal/fish was taken.
- Please include a contact phone number.
- Prints will not be returned.
- Mail hard-copy photos to Caller-Times Outdoors Gallery, PO Box 9136, Corpus Christi, TX, 78469.
- E-mail photos to sikesd@caller.com.
