Fishing Help Charter boatsA classic fishing village, Port Aransas provides a harbor for private sport fishermen, charter boats and the large party boats. Visiting anglers can improve their odds of catching fish by booking a spot on one of the party boats or by hiring a private charter boat for the bays. Gulf party-boat fishermen can expect to catch kingfish, ling (cobia), dolphin (dorado), amberjack, red snapper, bonito and sharks, among other species. Gulf party boats depart from a number of Port Aransas docks. During summer months, daily trips last five, eight or 12 hours and respective fees are approximately $35, $50 and $70 (including bait and tackle). Private sportfishing charter boats for one to three anglers on an 8-hour day are approximately $350 on a 24-foot boat, $450 on a 31- footer and $550 on a 35-footer. Day
trips to catch redfish and speckled trout in the bays typically cost $175
to $200 for a half-day charter and $250 to $350 for a full day for
two anglers.
