Averaging five
to six feet in length, the swift and acrobatic blacktip shark is a favorite target
of anglers fishing the wild surf of Padre Island or nearshore Gulf waters. The
blacktip is also known as superb table fare, with a taste that rivals swordfish.
Bull, tiger and hammerhead sharks from eight to 12 feet in length also are commonly
hooked in the surf and nearshore Gulf waters. April to October.
