Besides academics, clubs and honor societies, Moody has a wide variety of sports. These include:
Moody is especially proud of its baseball team for their accomplishments. It has won
Moody is proud of its award winning literary magazine,
Vida. It has been recognized as State Champions for the past two
years.
Furthermore, the school newspaper, The Trojan Runner, is published
every
month to inform the students, faculty, and staff of current events that
affect the school
and community. The Golden Shield, our annual, recalls all the
important
events which occur throughout the school year including Homecoming, the Junior Ring
Assembly,
the Senior Farewell, the Honors and Awards Assembly, the Senior Prom and Graduation.
Moody High School has the latest in medical labs and
classrooms.
They have state of the art equipment. These labs provide complete
training in entry level skills.
Courses Available
Health Care Science is a course that includes skills related to the health care industry. The course curriculum includes patient care, working environments, interpersonal, relationships and ethical and legal responsibilities. Entry level skills will also be given for taking vital signs, using proper body mechanics, using medical terminology and any other skills needed to participate in health occupations.
Clinical Rotation provides an opportunity to explore medical careers through classroom orientation and technical instruction. It includes on site experience with a minimum of six hours per week at a local hospital or other facility.
Medical Laboratory Assistant includes the developmental application of medical laboratory skills with "hands on procedures" in a school based medical laboratory.
Internship is a more in-depth approach to a specific occupation(s). The student develops and applies skills in the classsroom and clinical setting.
Tech Prep is a program that combines high school and college curriculum credits leading to an Advance Associate Degree in an Allied Health Career. It is currently under development at Moody High School. Tech Prep offers the following benefits to students.
We have established a partnership with Baylor College
of Medicine to
encourage our students to enter a field of medicine. Selected juniors
paticipate in a two week
Doc-Prep summer program at Baylor in Houston at no expense to students.
Upcoming
sophomores may participate in a Baylor Summer Academy at Moody High School
for
three weeks in June.
