Union Pacific settles with Dow over rail delays
From Staff Writer wire services
DALLAS - Union Pacific Corp. has settled a lawsuit filed by Dow Chemical Co., the second agreement the nation's largest railroad has reached with a major customer disgruntled over poor service. It had made an earlier settlement with Du Pont.
Union Pacific and Dow made the announcement on Monday, but didn't disclose the financial terms of the agreement. Dow Chemical said when it filed its breach of contract suit that it was frustrated with disruptions in rail service that had cost more than $25 million in lost revenue and extra shipping expenses.
Dow was one of many companies that filed claims against Dallas-based Union Pacific in the wake of major congestion and delivery delays last year.
