Laredo bank group to open branch in Corpus Christi

Laredo National Bank officials said Friday that the bank has received regulatory approval to build a branch in Corpus Christi.
The branch will be named Corpus Christi Bank & Trust and will be located at 5015 Ayers St., near the intersection of Crosstown Expressway and South Padre Island Drive.
Alan R. Wilson will serve as president of the branch. James E. Winton will be vice president and senior lending officer, and Gail S. Sanchez will be vice president and operations manager.
Temporary offices will open on-site by the end of the month while the existing building is remodeled, Wilson said. The permanent facility should be complete by the year's end.
Laredo National Bank is owned by Laredo National Bancshares, a $2 billion holding company based in Laredo.
Oil and gas rig count up by seven this week
HOUSTON - The number of oil and gas rigs operating nationwide increased by seven to 819 this week, Baker Hughes Inc. said Friday.
There were 964 rigs operating in the United States during the same week last year.
Of the rigs running this week, 551 were exploring for natural gas and 266 for oil. Two were listed as miscellaneous.
Of the major oil- and gas-producing states, New Mexico led gainers with four more rigs. North Dakota and Texas each gained three.
