Reddish Egret

Almost an endagered species, Reddish Egrets are easily found here. They are wading birds of salt and brackish marshes. Their comic manner of dashing about with outstretched wings while feeding, identifies them as surely as the pinkish blue color of their plumage. Bills are pink with black tips. This species occurs rarely in a white phase in which the pink bill and strange behavior is still present.

Red Knots

Migratory flocking birds sometimes called ``robins of the sea'' because of their bright rust breeding plumage. Found in the surf on Gulf beaches from March through May and early August through October. The brightness of their plumage depends on the breeding season. Out of breeding they are a sober, unremarkable brown. Their sensitivity and responsiveness to flock movements is always amazing.
