Former San Jose Shark Link Gaetz behind bars in Texas

Associated Press

HUNTSVILLE - Former San Jose Shark defenseman Link Gaetz remained jailed Friday after a judge reduced his bond on charges of public intoxication and resisting arrest.
Gaetz was arrested Jan. 10 by police responding to a disturbance call at an apartment complex.
He fought with police and cursed the judge who arraigned him, Walker County Court-at-Law Judge Barbara Hale said.
After his outburst, Ms. Hale told Gaetz that his bond would be set at $10,000.
"He said, `Make it $100,000,"' Ms. Hale said. "So I did."
On Friday, his bond was reduced to $5,000.
It was not known why Gaetz was in Texas, officials said.
Gaetz racked up 326 penalty minutes in 48 games during the Sharks' inaugural 1991-92 season.
His National Hockey League career was cut short by a serious car accident in 1992. He spent most of the 1992-93 season rehabilitating, and played in the minors after being traded from San Jose to Edmonton.
