William Curtis Cable, age 50, passed away on Saturday, May 1, 1999 at residence.

A family service will be held Wednesday May 5, 1999 7:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be held at 11:15 p.m. Thursday May 6, 1999 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, Texas.

BORJA

Elida "Lee" Ramos Borja, 56, passed away Monday, May 3, 1999. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend.

She was born on November 23, 1942 in Laredo, Texas. Elida was formerly of Gary, Indiana and has lived in Corpus Christi, Texas since 1979. She was a great cook, baker, enjoyed gardening, garage sales, and antiques. She will be most remembered for her giving spirit and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Juan Borja; sons, Rafael F. (Katha) Borja and Anthony (Yolanda) Borja; daughters, Julia Anna Borja and Magdalena Borja; grandchildren Angel Borja, Julia Anna Rocha, Arnaldo Salazar, Alexia Salazar and Zakary Borja all of Corpus Christi, Texas; her sisters, Elva (Gerald) Menges of California, Frances (Vidal) Salas of Texas, Zaida (Steve) Ramos-Gross of California, Isabel (Michael) Hernandez of Indiana and San Juanita Ramos of Texas; brothers. Juan R. (Luz) Ramos of Indiana, Mario (Elena) Ramos and Porfirio (Denise) Ramos of California, Rafael Ramos of Hawaii and Tomas (Molly) Ramos of Alaska; numerous nieces, nephews relatives, family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Julia S. Ramos, Rafael Ramos, and grandson, Aaron Anthony Borja.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 5, 1999 from 12:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Seaside Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Seaside Chapel. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 6, 1999 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.

Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.

DE LEON

Eudelia De Leon, 75, of Corpus Christi, passed away Sunday, May 2, 1999. She is preceded in death by her husband Carlos De Leon, Sr. one grandson Shawn De Leon.

She is survived by seven sons Carlos (Lala) De Leon, Gilbert (Irma) De Leon, Pete De Leon, Alex De Leon, Arturo De Leon, Cipriano De Leon, Ruben (Darlene) De Leon, one daughter Petra De Leon all of Corpus Christi, Numerous brothers and sisters. five grandchildren Gwen, Brandon, Devan, Arturo, Jr., Pete De Leon Jr.

The family will be receiving friends from 5;00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Memorial Funeral Home Crosstown Chapel with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.

Rites of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 6, 1999 at Ss Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church.

Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brandon De Leon, Pete De Leon, Jr., Arturo De Leon, Jr., Carlos De Leon, Jr., Richard Montemayor and Ezzy Munoz.

FITZSIMMONS

Ingleside, Texas - Carolyn Fowler FitzSimmons, born on October 17, 1933 passed away Monday, May 3, 1999 at the age of 65. She had been a resident of Ingleside, Texas since 1953. She was a member of the last graduating class of Corpus Christi High School before changing the name to Roy Miller High School. She was Past Mayor Pro Tem of Ingleside, served on the City Council, served as an election judge, was also a Precinct Chairman, and served on the Tri County EMS Board. She is survived by her husband, William F. FitzSimmons III of Ingleside; three daughters, Niki Maas and husband, Don of Mesquite, Kathi Robichaux and husband, Jim of Corpus Christi, and Donna Hull and husband, Jerry, of Felda, Florida; one brother, Monty Fowler of Houston; a mother-in-law, Woneita FitzSimmons of Ingleside; three grandchildren, Stephanie Yardley of Felda, Florida, Kandice Robichaux and Lindsay Robichaux both of Corpus Christi; two nieces, Laura Gracelyn FitzSimmons of Portland and Jerre Fowler of Houston, and two nephews, William Gaskins of Chula Vista, California and Steve Fowler of Houston. The family will meet with family and friends for a special visitation, Tuesday, May 4, 1999, at the Charlie Marshall Funeral Home, Aransas Pass, Texas from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. FITZSIMMONS

RINER

Garland W. Riner, born July 23, 1936 in Overton, Texas, passed away May 4, 1999 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Garland passed away after a lenghty, but courageous battle with cancer.

Garland is survived by his caring and loyal wife Sarah L. Riner, loving mother, Lois E. Riner and daughters Catherine Riner Greer, Karen Riner Russell, Cindy Riner all of Houston,Texas, and Karen Putzel of Corpus Christi, Texas, brother Wayne Riner of San Diego, California, six grandchildren and four great grand-children.

Garland was preceded in death by his father, Howard W. Riner and his son Ricky Dean Riner.

He graduated from W.B. Ray High School and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Corpus Christi State University. Garland served his Country in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea. He was a 28 year veteran of the Corpus Christi Police Department where he retired with the rank of Lieutenant. During his career in Law Enforcement he received the honor of being named Policeman of the Year and was an expert Pistol Marksman. His last assignment in Law Enforcement was the position of U.S. Deputy Marshall at the Federal Courthouse in Corpus Christi.

The family will be receiving friends from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5, 1999 at Memorial Funeral Chapel, Holly Road.

Prayer service will be conducted at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 5, 1999 at Memorial Funeral Chapel, Holly Road.

Family will receive friends at 10:45 a.m. at the Church of Acts, 3811 Carroll Lane, on Thursday, May 6, 1999, Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery with full Corpus Christi Police Department Honors.

GIBSON

James M. Gibson, 80, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 1999 in a local nursing home.

He is survived by his wife, Gwendolyn Gibson; son, Ronnie (Kathy) Gibson; daughter, Rhonda Gwynne Gibson all of Corpus Christi, Texas; brothers, Hollis B. Gibson of Corpus Christi, Texas and William F. Gibson of Houston, Texas; sister, Frances Lance of San Antonio, Texas; and grandchildren, Brian Gibson and Mitzi Gibson of Corpus Christi, Texas.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm Thursday, May 6, 1999 at Seaside Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 9:00 am Friday, May 7, 1999 in the Seaside Chapel. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.

GONZALEZ

Hipolito "Polo" Gonzalez, 72, of Corpus Christi, passed away Saturday, May 1, 1999.

Rites of christian burial will be celebrated at 9:00 AM on Wednesday, May 5, 1999 at Holy Family Catholic Church.

Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

HABLUETZEL

Ingleside, Texas - Dr. Jack Edward "Papa Doc" Habluetzel, 79, of Ingleside, Texas, passed away Tuesday, May 4, 1999 at his home. He was born March 31, 1920 in Green, Kansas and served in the U.S. Army after completing Veterinarian school. He moved to Corpus Christi in 1944 and owned Spring Animal hospital and later added Windsor Park Animal Hospital. He moved to Ingleside in 1955 and started Habluetzel Animal Hospital. He retired from Veterinary practice in 1993. He was instrumental in the control of Equine Encephalitis in the 1970's. He served on the Ingleside I.S.D. School Board during the 1960's and served one term and its President. Doc Habluetzel was a businessman and developer and was responsible for the construction of the buildings now known as Floyd's Ranch House and Nu-way. He initiated the plotting for the development located on Lover's Lane and has owned and invested in many businesses throughout the Coastal Bend area from burgers to bait stands. His first book, Vet Stories & How They Shaped My Life, was published in 1994 and additional printings were ordered. He was preceded in death by his parents, David & Ella Habluetzel. He survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Barbara Jean Connett Habluetzel of Ingleside, two sons: David and Martha Habluetzel and Dan and Cindy Habluetzel, all of Ingleside, two daughters: Rita H. Bownds of Ingleside and Jackie and Donnie Henrich of Denver, Colorado and eight grandchildren: two great grandchildren; his brother: Bill & Velle Habluetzel of San Antonio and his two sisters: Marjorie & Ivan Slaughter of Greeenwood, Missouri and Shirley Terry of Corpus Christi. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 8, 1999 at 10:00 am at Ingleside United Methodist Church. Burial will follow.

JOHNSON

Ora S. Johnson formerly Ora S. Kratz passed away in a local hospital on April 30, 1999. She was 72. Ora was born on March 8, 1927 in South Saint Paul Minnesota to William S. and Hazel Schaefer.

She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her three sons: Duane, John and Jeffrey Kratz, their wives, five grandchildren and four brothers.

There will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory can be made to the Salvation Army.

MOON

Thelma Jean Moon, age 70, passed away on May 3, 1999 in a local hospital. Thelma was born on December 1, 1928 to the late Joe and Mirtie Gilbert.

Surviving family include a son and a daughter-in-law; Michael and Rosie Coker of Corpus Christi, TX. Three sisters: Durstene Nixon of Port Isabel, TX, Joyce Gardner of Blanchard, LA and Marjorie Rush of Tyler, TX. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded by her husband, Sam Moon on August 31, 1997.

Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday May 5, 1999 at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8:00 am till 1:00 pm at Memory Gardens Funeral Home.

PARTEN

Cortelle Evelyn Parten passed away Tuesday, May 4, following a long illness. She was born May 11, 1906 in Grove City, Pennsylvania. She is survived by her sons: Warren Parten and his wife, Beverly, of Frisco, Texas and Harry Parten and his wife, Jan, of Austin, Texas. She had five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Corpus Christi First United Methodist Church until she moved to North Texas to be close to her family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 8, 1999, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel (2525 Central Expy. North; Allen, Texas 75013; 972 542-2601) with Rev. Don Yeager officiating.

SCHOENFELD, JR

David Schoenfeld, Jr. passed away Sunday, May 2, 1999. He was 64 years old.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman; and a member of the Wildcat Bass Club, Diamond Back Bass Club of Sinton, Texas, and the C.A.S.T. Couples Fishing Club. He was also a member of the Bricklayers Union Local #16 and a professional dog handler.

He is survived by his mother, Alice Schoenfeld of Corpus Christi, Texas; wife, Willa Schoenfeld of Conroe, Texas; two sons, David Schoenfeld and Robert Schoenfeld both of Conroe, Texas; one daughter, Dayna Rider (Jim) of Corpus Christi, Texas; one sister, Jan Roberts of Corpus Christi, Texas; one brother, Kenneth Schoenfeld of Houston, Texas; a devoted and beloved friend, Barbara Gravatt of Corpus Christi, Texas; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, David Schoenfeld, Sr.

Visitations will be held Wednesday, May 5, 1999 from 4:00-9:00 p.m. at Seaside Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held in the Seaside Chapel Thursday, May 6, 1999 at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.

SMITH

Mavis (Virginia) (Murray)Smith, wife of former mayor, Farrell Dee Smith, died May 4, 1999. Mrs. Smith was a member of the Bayside Garden Club, the Symphony Guild, A.A.U.W., and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Survivors include three daughters, Carol Sylvia Smith of Austin, Sharon Smith of Austin, and Karen Smith of Richardson, Texas, and a son, Farrell M. Smith, of Corpus Christi Texas; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Mavis was a strikingly beautiful, intelligent woman and created beauty in her home and gardens, and in many other ways. She was dearly loved and will be very much missed by her family and many friends.

A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, May 5, 1999 in the Reid Chapel. Funeral services

will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday, May 6, 1999 in the Seaside Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Botanical Garden of Corpus Christi.

WARREN

MATHIS, TEXAS - James "Jim" Warren, 71, passed away, in Tesuque, New Mexico on Sunday, May 2, 1999.

Mr. Warren was born in Vaugh, New Mexico on March 11, 1928. He served in the U.S. Air Force WWII. He had resided in Mathis for the past 9 years, San Antonio prior to that.

He was a retired Bank-Vice President and was a member of the First United Methodist of Mathis. One of his great loves was wood work and wood carving.

He is preceded in death by one son, Michael Warren.

Survivors are wife: Ruby Warren, Mathis, Texas, two sons, Stephen Warren, San Antonio, TX., Jimmy Warren, Medina, TX., two step daughters: Kathy Rios, Corpus Christi, TX., Rose Fojtik, Floresville, TX., one step son: Donald Rylant, La Vernia, TX., two sisters: Patricia Jocobs, Goliad, TX., Sandra Balliet, of El Paso, TX., two brothers: Chris Warren, Westhoff, TX., Mel Warren, Victoria, TX., 13 Grandchildren, three great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be on Thursday, May 6, 1999 at 11:00 AM at Dobie Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Schendel. Graveside Service: Thursday, May 6 2:30 p.m. at the Westside Cemetery in Yorktown, Texas.

Pallbearers: Joe Warren, Matthew Warren, Kurt Jacobs, Jason Rios, Kris Rios, Michael Warren.
