BENDER

Evlyan Barroso Bender passed away January 18, 1999. She was born to Frank and Nora Hermann Barroso on September 25, 1925 in Houston, Texas. She was a 1943 graduate of Jefferson Davis High School in Houston, Texas and a 1965 Business College graduate in Corpus Christi, Texas. Mrs. Bender retired from D.W. Pickett Oil and Gas after 22 years as an office manager and bookkeeper.

She is survived by a half-sister Gloria Mireles of Spring, Texas.

Interment will be at Seaside Memorial Park. Services will be private.

BOCANEGRA

Vivian S. Bocanegra, 88, passed away Monday, January 18, 1999.

Survived by three sons, two daughters, two brothers, one sister, 24 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. six great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 22, 1999

at 11:00 am to 1:30 pm with a 2:00 pm graveside service at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

BALDESCHWILER

Caroline "Carrie" Rachal Baldeschwiler. The hand of God reached down and relieved his servant Caroline from her suffering Monday evening, January 18, 1999 at the age of 75. Caroline Agnes Baldeschwiler was born February 17, 1923 in White Point, Texas to the parents of Christopher Pryor Rachal and Elizabeth Mary Odem.

Caroline was the youngest of 11 children from a farming family with a deep rich history in the San Patricio County, dating back to the 1850's. Besides being a loving mother and homemaker, Caroline held various jobs through the years working as a bookkeeper for several banking institutions, including Parkdale Bank.

Caroline was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, M.F. Baldeschwiler in 1976. She is also preceded by five sisters; Esilla Wagner, Adeline Hickey, Margaret Harney, Florence White, Leacy Dittman, and four brothers; Dave, Christopher, Jules, Randolph Rachal.

Caroline leaves behind a very large family who will miss her very much. Sons, daughters and spouses included David (Marianne) Baldeschwiler of Corpus Christi, Patrick (Wanda) Baldeschwiler of Waxahachie, Texas, Matthew (Rania) Baldeschwiler of Boerne, Texas. Daughters include Margie (Chris) Schubert of Portland, Texas, Margaret "Peggy" Baldeschwiler, Mary Kay (Gary) Hill both of Corpus Christi and Virginia (Todd) Achee of Ingram, Texas.

Grandchildren are: Amy, Julie, Kyle Baldeschwiler, Brenda Cantu, Kim Terry, Brandon, Brent Baldeschwiler, Jeremy Hill and Jeffery, Carrie Achee and Lauren Schubert. Great grandchildren are; Evan Cantu, Brittany, Natalie Bray, and Emily Austin Terry. One sister Mrs. Billie Grime, and numerous nieces and nephews and many, many friends.

Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 9:00pm, Wednesday, January 20, 1999 at Maxwell P. Dunne Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm that evening.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Thursday, January 21, 1999 at St. Pius X Catholic Church.

Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Gary Hill, Todd Achee, Chris Schubert, Joe Harney, Steve Grime, Jimmy Hickey, Randy White, and Randy Rachal.

Honorary pallbearers will be, Brandon, Kyle and Brent Baldeschwiler, Jeremy Hill, Jeffery Achee.

A special thanks to the loving and caring staff of Sunnybrook Health Care Center for taking good care of Caroline in her times of need.

CHILDERS

Ura Lea Childers, 75, of Yoakum, formerly of Taft, passed away January 18, 1999 in a Victoria hospital, after a lengthy illness.

She was born September 9, 1923 in Corpus Christi to Ambrouse and Plama Harwell, and moved to Taft at an early age. She was in the retail business and a homemaker. She married Walter Childers August 10, 1938. They resided in Taft until Walter retired in 1985 and they moved to Yoakum.

She is survived by her husband, Walter of Yoakum, two sons, Gary (Alice) Childers of George West and Gene Childers of Corpus Christi; seven grandchildren, John Wesley (Tammy) Childers of Taft, Lara Lea (Gene) Geffert of George West, Scott Childers of Corpus Christi, Holly (Clayton) McCall of Lubbock, Gena Childers of Yoakum, Kristie Latham of Sweet Home and Misty Roberts of Hallettsville; one great-granddaughter, Savanna McCall; two great grandsons, Tristan Geffert and Trevor Rabke; one sister Lola Mae (Albert) Wilke of Corpus Christi.

Visitation will begin at 12 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel, Taft, family will be receiving friends from 6:00 to 7:30pm. Wednesday, January 20. Funeral services will be conducted at First Baptist Church of Taft, Thursday, January 21, at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. David Vernon officiating. Interment will follow in the San Patricio Memorial Gardens.

GARCIA

Falfurrias - Adelina P. Garcia, 93, passed away Monday, January 18, 1999 in a Kingsville hospital. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by two daughters, Sylvia Jones of Houston, Texas and Delia (Pete) Martinez of Falfurrias, Texas; one son, Amado (Pamela) Garcia of Houston, Texas; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Rosary will be recited at 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 1999 at Howard-Williams-Turcotte Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 21, 1999 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Burial will follow at the Falfurrias Burial Park.

GUERRERO

Palmira U. Guerrero, 52, of Corpus Christi, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 1999.

In the loving memory of our mother, never once did she complain, always took challenges as they came. She was a very loving mother to all. Though she is gone we will greatly miss her, she's forever in our hearts.

She is survived by four sons: Cirildo Guerrero, Jr., of Tacoma, Washington, Nick Guerrero, Gilbert Guerrero, and Julian Adam Guerrero all of Corpus Christi; four daughters: Jo Ann Torres of Florida, Elena Guerrero, Rachel Garcia, and Elizabeth Guerrero all of Corpus Christi; step-mother, Reynalda Uballe of Corpus Christi; two sisters, Mary Uballe of Corpus Christi and Frances Uballe of Michigan; 13 grandchildren.

Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.

JOHNSON

Joshua Brooks Johnson, 17, of Kingsville passed away Monday, January 18, 1999. He was born December 1, 1981 in Kingsville to Kenny and Twila Johnson. Josh was a member of the Kingsville Church of Christ where he was an active leader among the Youth Group. He was a Junior at H.M. King High School, a member of the National Honor Society, and on the All-A Honor Roll. Josh was 1998 1st Team All District Wide Receiver, 1st Team All-Bay Area Wide Receiver, Offensive Player of the Year-Brahma Football, led the Team in Receiving, 890 yards, and was a 2 Year Varsity Letterman. He was also a 2 Year Varsity Basketball Team member. Josh was a member of the Silver Spurs 4-H Club and was awarded Grand Champion for his Chickens in the 1991 Kleberg County Junior Livestock Show.

He is survived by his parents, Kenny and Twila Johnson; two sisters, Kendra Leigh Johnson and Kayla Marie Johnson all of Kingsville; his paternal grandparents, Brooks and Joyce Johnson of Kenedy; his maternal grandparents, Bob and Emma Eads of Lake Corpus Christi; and by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who loved him very much.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 A.M. Wednesday, January 20, 1999, in the Kingsville Church of Christ with Tim Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Chamberlain Cemetery in Kingsville.

Pallbearers will be Nicholas Johnson, Chad Staley, Bradley Alexander, Lindsey Lewis, Michael Rhyne, Tim Carr, Tommy Smith and Coach Rory Minter.

Honorary pallbearers will be the boys Varsity Football and Basketball players and coaches from H.M. King High School.

JOHNSTON

George Stewart Johnston, 75, passed away January 19, 1999 in a local hospital.

He worked for the Kraft Co. for thirteen years.

George is survived by his sons, Greg Johnston of Sinton, Texas, Mark David Johnston of Garland, Texas, and Steve Johnston of Corpus Christi, Texas; four grandchildren, Sonny Lalumia, Alisa Lalumia, Greg Johnston, Jr. and Etta Michelle Johnston; two great-grandchildren, Preston Lalumia and Brianna Johnston.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm Thursday, January 21, 1999 at Seaside Funeral Home.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, January 22, 1999 in the Seaside Chapel.

Dora V. Lerma, 80, was called by our Lord on Monday, January 18, 1999 after a long illness.

LEWIS

THREE RIVERS, TEXAS - Billye Lewis age, 78, passed away in an Austin Hospital following a short illness. She was born February 29, 1920 in May Pearl, Texas and moved to Callahan, Texas when she was three years old. She was member of the White Creek Baptist Church where her late husband Robert Lewis served as Pastor until his death in 1986. She was a faithful visitor to both the Roma Nursing Home and Live Oak Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Robert Lewis, three brothers, Theodore, Louis and Clude Woodward and one sister Amy Sue Woodward.

Survivors; three daughters: Carolyn (James) Hotchkiss of Rochester, N.Y., Sharon Penland of North Hills, California, Miriam (Bill) Zahn of Pflugerville, Texas, one brother: Charlee Woodward of Three Rivers, Texas wife (Verna Lee), two sisters: Loraine (Jack) Powell of Slidell, LA, Jean (Ken) Williams of Uvalde, Texas, five grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren.

A special thank you to the two neurologist that treated Billye, Dr. Linette, B. Melcher and Dr. Marvin R. Cresman both of Austin, Texas.

Services 10:00 AM Thursday, January 21, 1999 in the First Baptist Church in Three Rivers, Texas. Interment in the Three Rivers Cemetery.

GARDENA CALIFORNIA - Mr. Robert Muniz from Gardena passed away January 17, 1999 in California. He is survived by his spouse; Elida J. Muniz, his three children and three grandchildren.

Pedro "Pete" Hinojosa, III, of Robstown, Texas, passed away on Friday, January 15, 1999. He was 19.

He is survived by his mother, Margarita Hinojosa, of Minnesota, his father, Pedro Hinojosa, Jr., of Michigan; six sisters; Norma Jean Armijo, of Germany, Crystal Hinojosa, of Corpus Christi, Texas, Ernestina Hinojosa, of McAllen, Texas, Erin Holbrook of Michigan, Julie Ann Bayardo, and Nicole Torres both of Minnesota. Five brothers; Eric Hinojosa, of Corpus Christi, Texas, Agustin Hinojosa, of McAllen, Texas, Reynaldo Bayardo, III, Richard Bayardo, and Charles Torres, all of Minnesota; maternal grandparents, Carlos and Emma Torres, Sr., paternal grandparents; Pete and Ernestina Hinojosa, Sr., great grandmother, Jesusa Torres, all of Robstown, Texas; four aunts: Mary Jane (Larry) Benavides of Robstown, Lilly Benavides of Baytown, Texas, both of Robstown, Texas, Janie (Roland) Bayardo, of Banquette, Texas, and Rachel (Julio) Dimas, of Corpus Christi, Texas, and one uncle, Carlos (Maria) Torres, Jr., of Robstown, Texas.

Rite of Christian burial will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 1999, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Interment will follow in Robstown Memorial Park.

POENISCH

Ruth Julia Poenisch, passed away Thursday, January 7, 1999. She was born on August 12, 1907.

Graveside Services for Ruth Poenisch will be held Saturday January 23rd, 1999 at 1:30 pm at Rosehill Cemetery.

Survivors include son; Adolph Jr. and wife Scutt, daughter; Jo Anne Henry and husband Tommy, six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Mary Ponce, 88, of Corpus Christi, passed away Monday, January 18, 1999.

Mary was a member of Primera Iglesia Bautista.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Zacarias, Marcos, and George Ponce; sisters, Anastacia Ponce Trevino, and Otilia Ponce.

She is survived by her brother, Heriberto (Socorro) Ponce of Corpus Christi, and children Saul and Sabrina Ponce, John Ponce, and Cindy Mizes; sister, Juanita Ponce Hernandez and children George P. Hernandez, Elida (Joe) Gomez, and Anita (Pete) Oliver. Numerous other nieces, nephews and great nieces, and nephews.

A prayer service was recited at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 19, 1999 at Memorial Funeral Services, Crosstown Chapel.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 20, 1999 at Memorial Funeral Services, Crosstown Chapel.

Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
