OSCARS MAY SHIFT VENUE OVER SECURITY CONCERNS
Security concerns may force the Oscars from their new Hollywood home back to the Shrine Auditorium.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has given the developer of the 3,600-seat Kodak Theatre an Oct. 15 deadline to resolve security issues, or it will move the March 24 show back to downtown Los Angeles. The Academy says the developer, TrizecHahn, has not followed through on issues previously agreed upon. One major sticking point involves the Academy having security access to stores next to the entertainment complex so it can perform bomb sweeps on the day of the show.
IMAGES OF WTC ATTACK WON'T BE ON ABC
The arresting video images of airplanes slamming into the World Trade Center won't be shown again on ABC News without the network news chief's special permission.
ABC News President David Westin ordered the ban Tuesday amid concerns expressed by viewers that their repetition is proving disturbing.
"There is a sense that repeated use of these images is inappropriate," said ABC News spokeswoman Su-Lin Cheng Nichols. "People will remember these images forever whether we put them on or not. It's no longer a public service to continue to air them."
Competing networks say they're airing the images less than they did last week simply because the story is moving on

Tom Cruise, Julia Roberts, Bruce Springsteen, the Dixie Chicks, Ray Romano and Kelsey Grammer have all agreed to participate, organizers said Tuesday. It's believed to be the first time the four networks have agreed to air the same program simultaneously.
MUSICAL CANCELS BROADWAY ENGAGEMENT
"By Jeeves," a small Andrew Lloyd Webber show, won't be coming to New York this fall, the second musical this season to cancel its Broadway engagement because of terrorist attacks.
"In light of last week's devastating attack on the World Trade Center, two of our primary investors have withdrawn from the production," said Michael Price, executive director of Goodspeed Musicals, which was producing the show. Price said the show would be "indefinitely postponed."
It was to have opened at Broadway's Helen Hayes Theatre on Oct. 28.
Last week, the Roundabout Theatre Company said it was canceling its revival of "Assassins," the Stephen Sondheim musical about presidential violence in America from John Wilkes Booth to John Hinckley, because of the New York and Washington tragedies.
