Cable channels return to regular programming

Zap2it.com

LOS ANGELES - Broadcast and cable networks returned to regular programming Wednesday after more than 24 hours of continually covering the attacks on New York and Washington.
Cable channels that had suspended programming or switched to news feeds - among them MTV, ESPN, the Food Network and TBS - had resumed their regular schedules by late morning Wednesday.
The effect of Tuesday's terrorist attacks on the networks' fall schedules remains to be seen.
ABC, CBS and FOX, who were all heavily hyping series about secret agents - "Alias," "The Agency," and "24," respectively - have pulled promotional ads for those shows.
"It would be insensitive to continue to run those promos in light of what's happened," Fox spokesman Scott Grogin told the Los Angeles Times.
As of mid-morning Pacific time Wednesday, the broadcast networks hadn't made decisions on whether to delay their fall premieres, which were to begin in earnest next week following Sunday night's Emmy Awards, which have been postponed indefinitely.
