NEW LOCAL STATION IS TEXAS MUSIC FORMAT
Robison

There's a new spot on the dial, and fans of Texas singer/songwriter musicians will rejoice.
KBSO-FM/94.7 Texas Radio started up this week with a play list full of Texas musicians. It's the sister station to Victoria's KTXN-FM/98.7, and the two stations will share programming with the occasional live remote.
Steve Coffman, general manager and morning show host (6 to 10 a.m.), schedules his own play lists, not by national market research, but by meetings locally with his friends and co-workers. His Texas mix has found success in Victoria, and he hopes to find more of the same here.
"It's a base of Texas musicians from classic - Jerry Jeff Walker and Willie's in there, too - to the new guys, like Charlie Robison, Robert Earl Keen and Pat Green," Coffman said.
The blend includes plenty of favorites like Stevie Ray Vaughan and ZZ Top.
Coffman's daily show, the Blues Fix at Six, will feature lots of Deep Ellum blues from Dallas and West Side San Antonio blues.
"And then we'll throw some zydeco in there, and some stuff like Chris Isaak, Van Morrison and Bonnie Raitt," Coffman said. The station replaces The Buzz, which suffered constant interruptions and inconsistent broadcasts. Coffman and representatives from The Buzz reached an agreement that Texas Radio would better suit the space on the dial, he said.

LOCAL DANCERS TO BE FEATURED ON 'CALIENTE'
The "Caliente" program that was filmed at the Port of Corpus Christi in mid-August will air on Univision affiliate KORO from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday. The program features local dancers shaking their groove-thangs on the grounds of the Soloman P. Ortiz International Center, and it will air internationally.

CELEBRITIES' HANDS ARE CAST IN UNUSUAL PLACES
Cruise

LONDON - Hoping to make a night at the movies a little more memorable, the managers of a London theater have placed casts of celebrities' hands in some unusual places.
A replica of Tom Cruise's hand is part of a bathroom door handle, and a metal cast of Kate Winslet's hand pokes from the wall to form a soap dish.
Clint Eastwood's hand cradles a bottle of ketchup at the hot dog stand, while Scottish actor Robert Carlyle has a slightly more privileged position: His hand is being used as a coat peg in the bar.

WARNER ENDS CONTRACT WITH SUSAN GRAHAM
Graham

NEW YORK - Warner Classics International has ended its exclusive recording contract with mezzo-soprano Susan Graham, Grammophone reported on its Web site.
Graham's recording of Mozart and Gluck arias, "Il tenero momento," was released earlier this year to excellent reviews. The company is dropping several other artists, Grammophone reported.
