IceRay's notebook
Who's in, who's out?
One of the biggest new rules under the revamped Central Hockey League is the Five Veteran Rule. Each CHL team may keep only five designated veterans on its roster, which means that the IceRays will need to cut ties with two players that local fans may be familiar with.
Once released, a player still may play in the CHL - as long as he is signed by another team, taking the place of another veteran that his new team releases. This also works for the IceRays, who may opt to release more veterans after the season starts in order to pick up another player released by another team.
Here are the seven veterans on the IceRays' roster:
Regan Harper
Alex Kholomeyev
Kurt Wickenheiser
Mike DeGurse
Jamie Hearn
Jason Smith
Dustin McArthur
The hot seat
This year will mark a new promotion for IceRays home games. A hot tub has been installed near the goalkeepers net on the side of the staging area of Memorial Coliseum.
Each home game, between eight and 10 fans will don swimsuits and trunks and be able to watch the game up close, from the hot tub.
Dubbed the "C-101 Built 4 You Spas Hottest Seat In the House," the lucky fans will be selected by radio promotions.
