Local man wins big on 'Jeopardy'
After a few days in Los Angeles, Rod Sanders wasn't humming to the tune of Weird Al Yankovic's "I Lost on Jeopardy!"
That's because Sanders, a master control operator at KRIS 6 News almost went the maximum distance of five shows when he won four recent episodes in a row on "Jeopardy!"
Sanders picked up a total of $31,400 over the four days.
No wonder he called it "a fantastic experience" when he returned, before he was allowed to reveal the results to anyone. And now the $30,000-richer Sanders isn't returning calls, either because he A) can afford not to; B) is on a trip to Hawaii; or C) is busy counting and recounting his money.
'Texas Show' hits town
The consistent quality of "The Texas Show," which includes the best short videos produced in Texas or by Texas artists, is returning to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
University Cinema will host a free screening (7:30 p.m. Friday in Corpus Christi Hall, Room 118), and festival director Barton Weiss will answer questions afterward.
A few selections to look for:
"Delusions in Modern Primitivism" - Jerome has tattoos and piercings galore, and the next step is a bullet wound in his shoulder.
"The Catcher" - Features J as a J.D. Salinger fanatic who obtains the reclusive author's supposed address from the Internet and fakes an accident in front of his house in an attempt to get inside.
