St. James
QUICK CHAT
   Who: Rebecca St. James
Claim to fame: Contemporary Christian musician St. James will be performing this evening at the Texas Sky Festival Park. Call 887-6465 for more information.
Favorite CD of the moment: It would probably be Tree63's new album. I'm on tour with them now. I was a big fan before, though. I like the style of music, the passionate rock, and the lyrics because they're very real and God-focused.
Rockin' reads: Of course the Bible is a staple, but I just finished "Forever Liesl: A Memoir of 'The Sound of Music'" by Charmian Carr. The author played Liesl in the movie.
Marrying movie: I really enjoyed "The Wedding Planner," but that was a while back. I don't get the chance to see many movies.
Best food pitstop while touring: My ideal would be Thai food, but we don't often come across those while we're traveling. That restaurant with the green sign - what is it ... Perkins - is probably my favorite.

   APPOINTMENTS SOON
The Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra should announce within the next two weeks who will be the new director of the youth symphony. The orchestra is currently in negotiations with a candidate who would also take a teaching job with one of the area school districts, according to symphony president Charles Doraine.
Soon after, the orchestra hopes to announce the appointment of its new executive director. That person will be replacing Lee Gwozdz, who resigned in August to pursue other opportunities.
"I would expect within four weeks to have just a terrific team in place to take the symphony to the next level of the next few years," Doraine said.

Bennett, a North Dakota native, moved to Padre Island in 1994 and began taking art classes. Her drawings, watercolors and acrylic paintings can be found in homes throughout the Coastal Bend.
