Islanders game day
HOUSTON FLIGHT AT TEXAS A&M-CORPUS CHRISTI
LOCATION: Memorial Coliseum (3,500).
TIME: 7 p.m.
NEXT GAME: vs. Sul Ross State, 7 p.m. Friday at Memorial Coliseum.
THE SCOOP: The post-Michael Hicks era begins for the Islanders. Although no player will be able to fill the 26.7-points-per-game hole that Hicks left, guard Armond Wainright should increase his scoring average from the 10.6 he averaged last season. The muscular Corey Lamkin will most likely fill Hicks' power forward spot in the lineup. . . . A&M-Corpus Christi will be without starting point guard Brian Evans, who was suspended for two games due to academic reasons. . . . Exhibition games don't mean anything, but forward Brian Hamilton says he'll still be looking to win at all costs. "You've got to want to win the game," Hamilton said. "Even if we look bad and everything falls apart, we still want to win."
