2 - District titles decided on overtime 2-point conversions this past week. Miller beat Carroll on an overtime run by Isaac Collier, and clinched the 29-5A crown with a 38-37 win. Freer missed out on a piece of the 32-2A title when Banquete's Larry Goldman, preserving the Bulldogs' 27-26 victory, batted T.J. Guajardo's 2-point pass down in the end zone.
6 - Seasons since Odem and San Diego had made the playoffs. With wins by each team on Friday, each was back in the postseason.
14 - Consecutive 10-win seasons for Calallen, extending the Wildcats' state record.
50 - Consecutive district wins for Calallen.
Friday Night Stars
Beeville's Brian Bonner: The quarterback finished the regular season with a flourish. While Bonner had 66 yards passing, he carried eight times for 184 yards and three touchdowns.
Sinton's Marcus Charles: Charles again displayed his versatility, catching two passes for scores and rushing for two touchdowns. He hauled in three passes for 107 yards and rushed seven times for 112 yards.
Moody's Brandon Collier: As the Trojans salvaged their district season with their only district win, Collier riddled the King secondary, throwing for 245 yards and three touchdowns. He also rushed for 69 yards.
Flour Bluff's Jimmy Gonzalez: Gonzalez had a big game at receiver for the Bluff, hauling in four passes for 119 yards.
Rockport-Fulton's Ryan Haun: The sophomore was exceptional at defensive back for the Pirates, breaking up four passes and still stuffing Floresville's attempts to run the sweep.
Gregory-Portland's Justin Morales: Morales carried the load in G-P's 30-0 victory over Port Lavaca Calhoun. He carried 16 times for 208 yards and three touchdowns.
Rockport-Fulton's Ryan Picarazzi: The senior linebacker was a constant pain to the Floresville running game. Picarazzi was in on 14 tackles as the Tigers managed just 103 rushing yards on 37 carries.
Odem's Brenton Stalcup: With the Owls needing a win to assure a playoff spot, the junior quarterback delivered. Stalcup hit Mathis with 136 passing yards, and tacked on 93 rushing. He passed for a score and ran for another.
Banquete's Willie Urrea: Urrea accounted for all of Banquete's points, scoring four touchdowns and kicking three extra points as the Bulldogs downed Freer, 27-26, in overtime. Urrea was a workhorse, carrying 44 times for 188 yards.
Premont's Benny Villarreal: Villarreal was his usual workhorse self as the Cowboys downed Riviera for a playoff spot. Villarreal carreid 19 times for 143 yards and four touchdowns.
