IceRays sign forward Patrick Heinz
From staff and correspondent reports
The Corpus Christi IceRays added forward Patrick Heinz to their roster Wednesday.
Heinz attended training camp last season and dressed in one regular-season game for the IceRays. He played two games with the El Paso Buzzards before returning to his native Germany to play for the Iserlohn Roosters.
"Heinz is a gritty player that will compliment our team," IceRays general manager Taylor Hall said. "Signing Patrick gives us a solid rookie that can play any style our eventual new coach will want to play. Last season, releasing Patrick was one of the toughest decisions I had to make, however this season, I felt no hesitation in signing a player I feel can help us reach the next level."
Heinz played in 25 games for the Roosters, scoring no points and totaling four penalty minutes.
The signing of Heinz gives the IceRays eight players as they prepare for their fourth season. Earlier this month, the Rays signed seven players, including six from last season's playoff team.
