   ORANGE GROVE - Antonio Alaniz Jr. died March 14, 2001. He was 41.
   Survivors include his mother, Ester Alaniz of Orange Grove; four brothers, Arnold, Juan, Jose and Noe Alaniz, all of Orange Grove; and four sisters, Maria Alaniz of Jarrell, Nelda Alegria of Alvin, Christian Marie Alaniz and Melissa Ortiz, both of Orange Grove.
   Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. March 17 at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church. Burial will be in Orange Grove Cemetery.

   Ernest H. Garcia
   Ernest H. Garcia, a retired employee of the Nueces County Courthouse, died March 14, 2001. He was 89.
   Survivors include a daughter, Yolanda G. Mandel of Corpus Christi; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
   Rites of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. March 17 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

   Celia P. Gutierrez
   SINTON - Celia Paredes Gutierrez, a former employee of Trodliers Department Store and service representative for Sears Catalog Store, died March 15, 2001. She was 83.
   Survivors include her husband, Jose; two daughters, Anita Nunez and Josephine Delgado, both of Sinton; a brother, Arturo Paredes of California; three sisters, Ofelia Rodriguez of Refugio, Chris Paredes and Virginia Vela, both of Corpus Christi; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
   Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. March 18 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. March 19 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will be in Eternal Rest Cemetery.

   Magdalena G. Huerta
   KINGSVILLE - Magdalena G. Huerta, a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, died March 16, 2001. She was 76.
   Survivors include two sons, Edwardo Huerta of Rios and Erasmo Huerta of San Angelo; two daughters, Susie Nava and Cristina Salinas, both of Kingsville; three sisters, Rumalda Mata of San Antonio, Cruz Mata of Brazoria, and Maria Juanita Duarte of Torrance, Calif.; a brother, Jesus Manuel Garcia of Premont; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
   Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. March 18 at Howard-Williams-Turcotte Funeral Home, Falfurrias. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. March 19 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Rios. Burial will be in Vera Cemetery, Rios.
  
   Santiago R. Mares Sr.
   MATHIS - Santiago R. Mares Sr., a retired self-employed truck driver, died March 15, 2001. He was 79.
   Survivors include three daughters, Esmeralda Garcia of Houston, and Ernestina Martinez and Eufemia Nieto, both of Mathis; two sons, Santiago R. Mares Jr. of San Antonio and Mario Mares of Mathis; a sister, Adela Perez of Weslaco; two brothers, Frank Mares of Harlingen and Guadalupe Mares of Abilene; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
   Services will be at 2 p.m. March 17 at Templo Gethsemani. Burial will be in Cenizo Hill Cemetery.

   ARANSAS PASS - Netie Massey, owner and operator of Snapper Courts and former Port Aransas and Rockport resident, died March16, 2001. She was 81.
   Survivors include a daughter, Jackie Craven of Aransas Pass; a brother, Raymond Ellerd of Dallas; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
   Services will be at 2 p.m. March 18 at Seagraves Cemetery, Seagraves.

   Josue Najar
   Josue "Joe" Najar, a local barber, died March 15, 2001. He was 87.
   Survivors include three daughters, Viola Reed, Sylvia Benavides and Cynthia Gonzalez, all of Corpus Christi; a sister, Consuelo Adame of Corpus Christi; a brother, Roberto Najar of Corpus Christi; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
   Prayer services will be at 4 p.m. March 18 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. March 19 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park.
  
   James M. Slayton
   James M. "Jim" Slayton, manager of the Twin Dolphins, died March 13, 2001. He was 61.
   Survivors include three sisters, Nancy Gitting of Lake Waukomis, Mo., Helen Hook of Overland Park, Kan., and Eudora Chisam of Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers, Lowell Slayton of Gladstone, Mo., and Miles Slayton of Hillsboro.
   Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. March 17 at Seaside Funeral Home.
  
   Woodroe J. Rollins
   Woodroe Jarrett "Dub" Rollins, a World War II Navy veteran and owner of Dub's Garage, died March 16, 2001. He was 76.
   Survivors include his wife, Cecilia; five daughters, Jackie Villarreal, Melissa Rollins, Theresa Flannagan and Bernadette Hardcastle, all of Corpus Christi, and Jacinta Albrecht of Bay City; five sons, Richard Reyes, Jarrett, Jake, Joseph and John Rollins, all of Corpus Christi; a sister, Helen Svatapolsky of Corpus Christi; a brother, John Rollins of Mobile, Ala.; 31 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
   A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 5 p.m. March 19 at Seaside Funeral Home. Burial will be in Seaside Memorial Park.
  
   Narzaria A. Tejeda
   Narzaria A. Tejeda died March 14, 2001. She was 96.
   Survivors include a daughter, Maria del Carmen Cantu of San Antonio; a son, Juan Manuel Tejeda Sr. of Corpus Christi; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
   Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. March 17 at Our Lady of Pilar Catholic Church. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery.

   Larry W. Wendel
   SINTON - Larry Wayne Wendel, a former member of the Texas National Guard, the Lions Club and a maintenance supervisor for San Patricio County, died March 14, 2001. He was 62.
   Survivors include his wife, Lois; four sons, David Wendel of Sinton, Michael Wendel of Jennings, La., Duane Wendel of Newcastle and Mark Wendel of Salt Lake City; and seven grandchildren.
   Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. March 18 at Ritchea-Gonzales Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. March 19 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. March 19 at Holy Cross Cemetery, Yorktown.
