Javelinas, Tarleton State to face twice

KINGSVILLE - The Texas A&M-Kingsville baseball team hopes to even its Lone Star Conference record this weekend, playing Tarleton State today and Saturday in Stephenville.
The Javelinas (15-13, 4-5 in the LSC) play Tarleton State at 2 p.m. today, and then again in a doubleheader Saturday starting at noon.
Four teams are tied for second place in the LSC South Division, including the Javelinas and Texans. Eastern New Mexico and West Texas A&M also have 4-5 records. Abilene Christian leads the division with an 8-4 record.
Outfielder Adrian Rosales has taken over the Javelina hitting lead with a .377 average. Shortstop B.J. Griffith is hitting .373 and third baseman David Gonzalez and outfielder John Dean are hitting .346. Mike Adams (4-2, 3.42 ERA) has been the team's best pitcher.
A&M-K pitcher Gutierrez named to all-tourney team
KINGSVILLE - Texas A&M-Kingsville pitcher Maria Gutierrez was named to the all-tournament team at the Alamo Invitational Tournament last weekend in San Antonio.
Gutierrez, a junior from Pearland Dobie, helped the Javelinas reach the semifinal round.
