’Cats’ Perez headed for D-III Rochester

Calallen star averaged 12.9 points as senior

From staff reports

Calallen's Gabe Perez, an all-metro guard, will continue his basketball career at the University of Rochester.
As a Division III school, Rochester doesn't give out athletic scholarships, but Perez, a member of the National Honor Society, received an academic scholarship to the school.
"I just love the opportunity to excel both athletically and academically," Perez said. "Rochester's business program is ranked in the top 20 in the nation, so that's what I was really looking at. Playing basketball up there will be great, but I'll also be taking care of my academics."
Perez, who was the District 31-4A MVP, averaged 12.9 points and 4.9 assists as a senior at Calallen.
