Closures for Independence Day

   In observance of Independence Day, federal and state offices and most area banks will be closed Wednesday. Most area tourist attractions will observe regular schedules.
   GOVERNMENT SERVICES
  

  • Corpus Christi libraries will be closed Wednesday.
      
  • The Corpus Christi Marina, city golf courses the H-E-B Tennis Center will be open.
      
  • Regional Transportation Authority buses will operate on the Sunday schedule with weekday fares, but there will be no Park & Ride to Naval Air Station Corpus Christi.
      
  • Garbage collection schedules are unchanged. Recyclables will not be collected on Wednesday, and the H-E-B Recycling Drop-Off Centers will be closed.
      
  • Postal Service offices will be closed Wednesday for the holiday and no mail will be delivered to homes and retail businesses. There will be no pick up of holiday collection boxes.
      
  • City senior centers and recreation centers will be closed Wednesday.
      
  • The federal courthouse will be closed.
      
  • Nueces County Courthouse will be closed.
      
  • Corpus Christi Municipal Court and City Hall will be closed.
      
  • The Texas Department of Public Safety driver's license office will be closed.
       MILITARY
      
  • Corpus Christi Army Depot will be closed Wednesday.
      
  • Area military bases are standing down for the holiday.
       HIGHER EDUCATION
      
  • Coastal Bend College, Del Mar College, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and Texas A&M University-Kingsville will be closed Wednesday only.
       BANKING
      
  • Most area banks, credit unions and savings and loans will be closed Wednesday.
       ENTERTAINMENT
      
  • The Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday.
      
  • Art Museum of South Texas, Lexington Museum on the Bay, and the Texas State Aquarium will be open.
      
  • The Asian Cultures Museum and Educational Center will be closed today and Wednesday.
      
  • The Corpus Christi Greyhound Race Track will be open with a holiday matinee at 1:30 p.m.
