88-69 victory gives Javelina women first in South division
A&M-Kingsville beats Angelo State, scores 16th consecutive win

KINGSVILLE - The Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelina women took over sole possession of first place in the Lone Star Conference South Division with an 88-69 victory over the Angelo State Rambelles here Thursday night in the Steinke Center.
The win improved the Javelinas' record to 18-2, their 16th consecutive victory. The team is 5-0 in the LSC South Division.
Angelo State had entered the game as the only other unbeaten team in the South standings. The Rambelles fell to 2-1 in the league and 10-5 overall.
The Javelinas had several early spurts to take over the game. It was 13-10 at 13:45 when the home team had a 12-0 streak. It wasn't close after that.
A&M-K had a 50-26 halftime lead and was in front by as many 31 in the second half.
Precious Thibodeaux led the Javelina scoring with 20 points. She was eight of 10 from the field. Lorie Martinez had 18 points and added four three-pointers to her career total, which is now 14 away from the NCAA Division II record.
Pat Lewandowski had 15 points for the Javelinas, and Arie Wilson hit 14.
Wilson led the Javelinas rebounding with 14.
Kylie Nabors led the Rambelles with 14 points and Esponosha Gilliam had 18 rebounds.
The Javelinas had 19 steals and forced 29 ASU turnovers. Jessica Gamez led the Javelina individual steals with five.
A&M-K will be at home again Saturday afternoon to host Abilene Christian in an LSC South Division matchup. Game time will be 2 p.m.
