IceRays score a hat trick

C.C. adds three more players to its roster

From staff and correspondent reports

The Corpus Christi IceRays signed three more players Thursday, bringing the team's preseason roster size to 21. Forwards Kris Graff and Dan Bassi, and defenseman Jeff Potter are set to report to the IceRays' training camp, which opens Oct. 10.
After a brief stint with the Austin Ice Bats, Graff has spent the past two seasons playing for Grant MacEwen College in Edmonton.
"Kris will give us some toughness," IceRays coach Dale Henry said. "He has been a physical presence for every team he has played for in the past, and we hope he can continue that with us."
Like Kraff, Bassi also comes to the IceRays after spending time playing college hockey in Canada. In four seasons at Brock University, Bassi recorded 126 points (53 goals, 63 assists) in 98 games.
"Dan is a strong offensive player with good size and great hands in front of the goal," Henry said. "Bassi will fit in nicely with the forwards we have already signed."
Potter spent his rookie season with four teams in the East Coast Hockey League. The addition of Potter reunites him with a former college teammate and IceRays defenseman Byron Pool. The two first played at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York.
"Jeff has all the tools to be a great player in this league," said Henry. "He's quick, strong and has a great attitude and work ethic."
In a separate transaction, the IceRays have traded the rights for defenseman David Bourque to the Fort Worth Brahmas for future considerations. In 24 games last season with the IceRays, Bourque scored one goal and had four assists.
