Counting on a comeback
Counting Crows’ trippy, rambling jams set hit Concrete Street Tuesday

There’s no doubt Counting Crows is several years past the peak of its popularity,
but the melodic soft-rock band and tortured lyrics from bushy-haired singer Adam
Duritz still have a place in the heart of many a 20-something.
At live shows, up-tempo hits like Mr. Jones and Hangin’ Around usually
inspire a little dancing, while slower songs like Long December and

Round Here make for excellent group
singalongs.
For fans only familiar with the radio singles, though, concerts can be frustrating.
The band’s long jams and Duritz’s cryptic lyrics can be difficult to fall in love
with on first listen.
It’s been two years since the band released This Desert Life, and
word has it that the group will be testing out a lot of new material from its
forthcoming album, slated for release early next year.
