TODAY
   DINNER THEATER: Island in the Son United Methodist Church presents an evening of one act, short plays at 6:30 p.m. today at the church, located on Mustang Island about 2 miles north from Padre Island and 6 miles from the intersection of Waldron Road and S. Padre Island Drive in Flour Bluff. Tickets for dinner theater and show for today is $15 per person. Also at 4 p.m. Sunday a matinee will be presented. Tickets for matinee are $6. Also a Family Fun Evening with a supper theater begins at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 10 at the church. Tickets are $12 for adults and $8 for children 12 and under. Information: 949-8699.

   SATURDAY
   BOOK SALE: Flour Bluff/Padre Island Library support group will host a book sale beginning at 10 a.m. at the center court of Sunrise Mall. Proceeds benefit the Janet F. Harte Library. Information: 937-6569.
   BOOK SIGNING: Barnes & Noble Booksellers presents author Skip Douden at 2 p.m. at 5129 Blanche Moore Drive. Douden will be signing copies of his adventure novel "Texas Donuts." Information: 992-1339.
   PERFORMANCE: Ricky G. and the Dreamglows to perform from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. at El Regio Restaurant, 2515 Leopard St. Cover: $7 per person.

   MUNICIPAL BAND: Corpus Christi Municipal Band performs at 8:30 p.m. in the Cole Park Amphitheater. Loren Hall, conductor and featuring Water Street Jubilee Women's Quartet of the Sweet Adelines along with David Irving, master of ceremonies.
