Teen show reinterprets ‘Sex and the City’
Elliot

LOS ANGELES - The kivitching among female friends a la HBO's "Sex and the City" has trickled down to teen television.
NBC's new teen show "All About Us" is headed by a sassy female foursome of 16-year-old know-it-alls. The cast is headed by Alecia (played by 18-year-old Def Jam/MCA recording artist Alecia Elliot), who finds herself transplanted to Chicago from a small Alabama town.
Her friends include Niki (Marieh Delfino), Sierra (Crystal Grant), and Cristina (Alicia Lagano), and the four of them navigate the typical teen problems of boys, parents and zits.
The show premieres at 9:30 a.m. Saturday on NBC with an episode directed by Fred Savage of "Wonder Years" fame. The series premier, "Truth or Dare," features the foursome playing the mythic teenage game when Cristina (Lagano) is dared to steal her father's vintage car.
When they're trying to pilfer the keys, Cristina requests a distraction.
"Oooh, an alibi - very Puff Daddy," said Sierra.
So the pilot episode has one good line, but will the show take off similar to other Saturday morning hits such as "Saved by the Bell," which was also produced by "All About Us" creator Peter Engel?
Only if four is the magic number for girl power.

   CROW CANCELS CONCERT
Crow

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. - A surgical procedure has forced singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow to cancel her second concert in Michigan this summer.
The William Morris Agency, which represents Crow, said she would not make her scheduled Aug. 6 concert date at the Turtle Creek Casino in Williamsburg.
The agency said Monday that Crow had "an unavoidable medical condition that required surgery." It wouldn't specify the medical problem but said the 39-year-old was resting at home and was expected to recover within two weeks.

   TENNIS WITH RAPPERS
NEW YORK - Tennis organizers hope teens who love Lil' Bow Wow and O-Town will come to Arthur Ashe Kids' Day, the kickoff event for the U.S. Open tennis tournament.
The rapper and the boy band will be part of daylong activities geared at promoting tennis to children.
Getting more kids to play tennis was among the goals of the late tennis great Arthur Ashe.
Arthur Ashe Kids' Day is set for Aug. 25 at Flushing Meadows.
