Electrical woes sideline Pagan entrant

From staff and wire reports

Hearn
Richie Hearn's second appearance, and Pagan Racing's eighth appearance, at the Indianapolis 500 was a short one.
Hearn, whose Dallara-Aurora entry was sponsored by Pagan Racing, withdrew from the race after 97 laps with electrical problems. Exiting before reaching the race's midway point gave Hearn a 27th-place finish out of 33 drivers.
The Pagan entry pocketed $155,000 of the race-record $9,476,505 purse. Race winner, rookie Juan Montoya, pocketed $1,235,690 for taking the checkered flag.
Hearn, who qualified at 23rd, had much more success in his only other Indy 500 appearance. He made his Indy debut in 1996, finishing third.
This was the eighth straight year Pagan Racing has sponsored a car in the Indy 500. In the eight-year span, the Corpus Christi-based team has two top-five finishes, including last year when Jeff Ward drove Pagan Racing to a second-place finish.
A week before this year's race, Pagan Racing was confident another strong finish was on the horizon.
"Winning the Indianapolis 500 has always been a dream of mine," said Allan Pagan, who co-owns Pagan Racing with his father Jack. "Richie Hearn has proven he is a winner in karting, Atlantics and the Indy Racing League. We're very pleased knowing we have a driver capable of winning the greatest race in the world."
