Flour Bluff boys advance to Region IV-4A finals

One half of play good enough to get Hornets past New Braunfels Canyon, 1-0, in semifinal

From staff and correspondent reports

VICTORIA - One half of play was good enough Tuesday night for the boys soccer team from Flour Bluff High School.
Arron Foust's goal in the 30th minute was all the scoring the Hornets needed to score a 1-0 victory over New Braunfels Canyon in the Region IV-4A semifinals at Memorial Stadium.
"We came out the first half and finally played our game," Bluff coach R.D. Hinojosa said. "We basically came out on top in the first half. We came out flat in the second half."
Defense played the key role in the final 40 minutes. Canyon was able to muster only five shots on Hornets' goaltender Joel Santrock.
The Bluff (18-7-2), runners-up in District 31-4A, will face either Austin Travis or Sharyland for the regional title and a berth in the state tournament.
"I think we're playing around a 7 1/2 or an 8. We're playing about 60-70 minutes,'' Hinojosa said. "We've only had two games where we've had 80 minutes of play. There's still some room for improvement, and that's a positive. We're not making the same mistakes."
