ALEMAN

Lucinda E. Aleman, 76, of Corpus Christi passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2000.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Aleman.
She is survived by her children, Jose Daniel Aleman of Corpus Christi, Luis Felipe (Barbara) Aleman of Ocala, Florida, Johnny (Isabel) Aleman of San Antonio, Alma Rosa Aleman of Spring, Texas, Mary Ann (Jorge) Zaragoza, Linda Ann Caldera, Cindy Marie Aleman, Desi Andrew (Maria) Aleman all of Corpus Christi; one brother, Pedro (Ramona) Esparza of Phoenix, Arizona; 16 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, March 5, 2000 from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Monday, March 6, 2000 from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Home, Crosstown Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 on Monday.
Rites of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 7, 2000 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

BAKER

Vera Knapp Baker, born to James Winston Knapp and Mary Caldony Lewallen in Canadian County, Oklahoma December 14, 1909, died February 19, 2000 at Happy Harbor Methodist Home in La Porte, Texas.
A resident of the Corpus Christi and Rockport area, she retired in 1976 from her position as manager of the Caller-Times Federal Credit Union after 18 years of service.
Mrs. Baker was a charter member of the Edna Miller Friendship Class at First Baptist Church in Corpus Christi; and the Daughters of the Nile, Elidad Temple #134.
A member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Woodsboro Chapter #678 since 1938, she was also a member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, Altrui Court #89 at San Antonio, Texas.
Preceded in death by Hewitt Franklin Baker, her husband of 48 years, survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Frankie and T.J. Fox of Rockport, Texas; and grandsons, Jeffrey Hewitt Fox and Vincent Ross Fox of Houston, Texas.
Family and friends will celebrate Vera's life at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2000 214 Copano Ridge Road, Rockport, Texas.

BELEW

George B. Belew, 74, died on Thursday, March 2, 2000 at a local hospital.
Born September 12, 1925 in Purcell, Oklahoma, grew up in Oklahoma City. He graduated from Classen High School in Oklahoma City; attended University of Oklahoma graduating in 1953 with a B.S. in Geological Engineering. He was a member of several professional engineering fraternities: Sigma Xi, Tau Beta Pi, Sigma Tau, Tau Omega and Sigma Gamma Epsilon. He served in the Army during World War II in England, France, and Germany. After the war he worked as a petroleum geologist for 20 years and had a second 37 year career as a real estate broker/appraiser in Corpus Christi. For 25 of the 37 years he worked with David Cheek appraisal service. He was a member of several professional and civic organizations including the Corpus Christi Board of Realtors, The Apraisal Institute, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists, President of the Agape Class of First United Methodist Church, Past-President of the Kiwanis Club of Corpus Christi and the Tejas Archery Club.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will be missed by family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Marcy of Corpus Christi; his daughter, Georgia Lynn Porcher and her husband, Hollis; and three grandchildren, Jimmy Thompson of Deer Park, Texas, Marcy L. Porcher of Austin, Texas and Christopher Porcher of Corpus Christi, Texas.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2000 at the Seaside Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday March 5, 2000 in the Seaside Chapel.
Interment will follow in the Seaside Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers are David Cheek, Paul Koepke, Bill West, Harry Powers, Gordon Landreth and Van Carter.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer society and the Driscoll Children's Hospital.

BENAVIDES

CORPUS CHRISTI - Fay Lynn Benavides, 21, died March 1, 2000 in Rockport, Texas from injuries sustained from an automobile accident. She was a graduate from Alexander High School in Laredo, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her father Ruben L. Benavides on October 17, 1996 and her maternal grandfather Augustin Perez.
She is survived by her mother, Janie Benavides of Corpus Christi; maternal grandmother, Lola Perez of Freer, Texas; paternal grandparents, Alberto, Sr. and Consuelo Benavides of Corpus Christi; one sister, Sandra Ann (Jose) Garza of Laredo, Texas; one nephew, Jose Garza, III of Laredo, Texas.
A Rosary was recited 7:00 p.m. Friday March 3, 2000 at Garza Funeral Home in Freer, Texas.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday March 4, 2000 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Freer, Texas.
Burial will follow at the Hahl Memorial Cemetery in Freer, Texas.

Dr. Roger Brooks, 87, passed away Friday, March 3, 2000 at his residence.

DE SANTOS

Arthur S. De Santos , born in Houston, Texas on Christmas Day, 1919 passed away March 2, 2000. A decorated veteran of World War II, having served in the famous 36th Infantry Division, he was awarded the nation's third highest award for valor, the Silver Star, in April of 1945 during the Allies' final push into Germany. He also received the Purple Heart after having sustained wounds in combat. Perhaps his most cherished award was his Combat Infantry Badge awarded only to infantry men who have seen battle. A resident of Corpus Christi for most of his life, he retired from Reynolds Metals in 1979 after 30 years to make his home in Orange Grove with his loving and dedicated wife, Olivia. They enjoyed sixty years of married life traveling, hunting, and tending to their animals and plants. Arthur was the father of three children, Jose Arturo De Santos (Adelma) of Corpus Christi, Elma Torres (Diego) of Orange Grove, and Gloria Alvarado (Tom) of Missouri City and grandfather of seven, Laura Carabajal (Leo), Linda Selser (Rick), Ronnie Torres, Joe De Santos (Laura), Randy Alvarado (Elizabeth), Olivia Marie Torres, and Artie Alvarado. His eight great-grandchildren are Courtney Selser, Lauren Carabajal, Audrey Alvarado, Lance Carabajal, Andrew Selser, Briann Alvarado, Emma Selser, and Jacob De Santos. As an outspoken proponent of higher education, he encouraged all of his children and grandchildren to strive for excellence resulting in six undergraduate and post graduate degrees. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. and his influence will live forever.
A Rosary was recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 3, 2000. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 4, 2000 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.

Doroteo Jose "DJ" DeAlejandro, 83, passed away Friday, March 3, 2000 at his residence.

JOHNSON

ARANSAS PASS TX - Louise Hodge Johnson, 70, of Aransas Pass, Texas, passed away Friday, March 3, 2000 at her home. She was born January 17, 1930 in Phoenix, Arizona to Marvin and Ethel Sasser. She was a resident of Aransas Pass since 1965 and worked as a waitress at Little Bob's Cafe for 12 years where she was a second mom to many. She was also a Dietary Aide for Coastal Bend Hospital in Aransas Pass for 12 years and attended Temple of Praise church. Her love of life was her children and she loved to bake goodies for all her friends.
She is survived by her son, Jimmy Lee Hodge of Aransas Pass; three daughters, Phyllis Moore of Portland, Jeri (Norbert) Brader and Kim Nicholson, both of Aransas Pass; five brothers: Melvin Sasser of Cheyenne, Oklahoma, Raymond Sasser of Dumas, Texas, Joe Dean Sasser of Waco, Bill Teakell of Amarillo and Erwin Sasser of Schrader, Oklahoma; two sisters, Dorothy Sharp of Claude and Dolores Phelen of Waco; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Sunday, March 5, 2000 at Charlie Marshall Chapel, Aransas Pass from 10:00 am. until 9:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 6, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at Temple of Praise in Aransas Pass with Rev. Bob Jayne officiating.
Private family burial will be conducted at a later date.

LEE

SHINER - Neal Edward Lee, 73, of Shiner, formerly of Corpus Christi, passed away Thursday. March 2, 2000. He was born August 6, 1926, in Cushing, to the late Tommy and Ethel Sears Lee. He was a civil engineer and a Baptist. He was a graduate of Texas A & M University and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of 12th Man Foundation, Victoria A & M Club and past President of the Victoria Chapel of TSPE. He was a member of Texas Society of Professional Engineers and National Society of Professional Engineers.
Survivors include his daughters: Dixie Tucker and son-in-law Calvin Tucker of Shiner; Tammy Lee Williams Drabek and son-in-law James Drabek of Shiner; sons Jeffery Jackson and daughter-in-law Linda Jackson of Los Lumas, New Mexico; Gregory Dean "Butch" Lee of Mt. Enterprise, Texas; sisters, Mahdeen Craycraft of Mt. Enterprise and Freida Shumate of Corpus Christi; brother, Charles Lee of Mt. Enterprise; seven grandchildren, Kenneth Tucker, Kevin Tucker, Jeffery Jackson, John Jackson, Katie Lee Williams, Karah Childres, and Kirby Childers; and nine great-grandchildren.
Mr. Lee is preceded in death by: his wife, Mona Laseman Lee; parents.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, at Buffington Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Kenny Hibbs officiating.
Memorials: Local Chapter fo Texas A & M Scholarship Fund or Shiner Public School Library.
The body of Mr. Lee will be donated to the Texas A & M Research Center.

LEMON

Margie Lemon, a member of Arlington Heights Church of Christ, passed away Friday, March 3, 2000, at her home after a long battle with cancer. She was 73 years old. Margie was born July 14, 1926, in Edinburg, Texas. She was a devout Christian and loved everyone.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Burrell Lemon, Sr.; her good mother, father, step-father and brother. Her hobbies were bowling and gardening.
Margie is survived by four sons: Terry (Linda) Lemon of Beaumont, Frank Lemon of Corpus Christi, Albert Lee (Un Suk) Lemon of Harker Heights, and Burrell, Jr. (Barbara) Lemon of Sinton; one sister, Dorothy Mikeal of Corpus Christi; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Saturday and from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday in Sawyer-George Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2000 in Sawyer-George Funeral Home Chapel with Gary Lowe, Minister of Arlington Heights Church of Christ officiating.
Entombment will follow in Memory Gardens Mausoleum.

MCLENNAN

LeRoy McLennan, 91, a longtime Austin resident, died in Corpus Christi Tuesday, February 29, 2000. He was born May 4, 1908 in Taloga, Oklahoma. Mr. Mc (as he was known to virtually everyone) moved to the Lower Rio Grande Valley when he was five years old. It was there, in a bilingual culture, he learned to speak Spanish fluently. After graduation from high school, he began teaching full time in a one room school in Hidalgo County.
He attended summer sessions at the University of Texas and obtained a Bachelor of Arts, a Master of Arts and completed all requirements for a Doctorate except his thesis. He and Loyce Jennings were married in 1928. In all, he taught 14 years in four South Texas communities, Hidalgo, LaJoya, Edcouch and Sebastian.
In June 1929 he moved to Austin and joined the Steck-Vaughn Company where he served 34 years, retiring as vice president of sales and consultant. During the course of his career with Steck-Vaughn he traveled extensively in Texas and other southern states. He was responsible for the implementation of and revisions to the company's many practice books in arithmetic entitled Working With Numbers. Later, through his school contacts, he learned that many high school seniors lacked skills in mathematics. This led to the development of Working With Numbers, Refresher Course, sales of which totaled more than a million and a No. 1 best seller, year in and year out.
During World War II, he served as an officer in the United States Navy in the South Pacific.
Following his retirement from Steck-Vaughn in 1973, he and his wife continued to travel and eventually visited all 50 states with the exception of Hawaii.
He was a longtime member of University Methodist Church and the Men's Sunday School Class.
He is survived by his daughter Johanna McLennan Williams of Corpus Christi; grandsons, Dr. Ted Williams of Boerne and Mr. Jeffrey L.R. Williams of Austin; nephews, Mr. Harold Halcom of Columbus and Mr. Michael McLennan of Brenham; and niece, Mrs. Elizabeth Hite of Cherry Valley, California; and great-grandchildren, Christi, Robert, Holly and Cindy Williams all of Boerne.
It was said of him "His ready wit, interest in people and boundless energy are legend and will not soon be forgotten".
Funeral Services will be held at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home in Austin.
Pallbearers will be Dr. E.R. Franks, Dr. Ted Williams, Mr. Jeffrey L.R. Williams, Mr. Robert Williams, Mr. Harold Halcom, Mr. Michael McLennan.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Carl Griffin, Mr. John Shambaugh, Mr. Tanner Freeman, Mr. Robert Garcia.

NAVA

SAN PATRICIO TEXAS - Candelario S. Nava, Sr., 74, of San Patricio, Texas, passed away at his residence March 2, 2000.
Mr. Nava was born February 2, 1926 in Beeville, Texas. He lived in San Patricio most of his life. He retired from B.T. Sikes water well service in 1992. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gregoria Nava and brother, David Nava.
Survivors include one daughter, Lori Nava of Robstown, Texas; five sons: Candelario Nava, Jr. of Portland, Texas, Jose Nava, Rene Nava, Ray Nava, and Jimmy Nava all of San Patricio, Texas; one foster son, Favian Rosales of San Patricio, Texas; one brother, Juan Nava of Houston, Texas; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Sunday March 5, 2000 at the Dobie Funeral Chapel in Mathis, Texas.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 6, 2000 at St. Patrick's Church in San Patricio.
Interment will follow in San Patricio Cemetery.

RAMIREZ

Christina G. Ramirez, age 84, passed away March 2, 2000. She was born on July 26, 1915 in San Diego, Texas.
She was employed at the Naval Base in Corpus Christi during World War II and had also been an employee of the Corpus Christi Independent School District.
A son, Louis Puentes, precedes her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas H. Ramirez of Corpus Christi; a son, Raynaldo Yrias, Sr. of Corpus Christi; two daughters, Elma Nichols of Corpus Christi and Eulalia (Lollie) Puentes of Los Angeles, California; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
Visitation will begin Sunday, March 5, 2000 from 1:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:30 p.m. that evening.
A funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, March 6, 2000 for a 1:00 p.m. mass at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Father Ray will officiate both the rosary and the mass.
Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Jaime Trevino.

RAWLINGS

Catherine "Kitty" Rawlings, 84, passed away Wednesday, March 1, 2000 in a local nursing home.
She owned and operated a local nursery, "Cash & Carry", from the 1940's to the 1970's. She was a member of St. Luke's Methodist Church and an active member of the Eastern Star for over 40 years. Catherine was an avid painter, gardener, and bowler; she also enjoyed various other crafts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil I. Rawlings.
Catherine is survived by her brother, James I. Wilson of Vancouver, Washington; twenty-six nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2000 in the Seaside Chapel.

Edmund C. Short, age 77, passed away March 3, 2000. Services are under the direction of Trevino Funeral Home.

TOBIAS

ROBSTOWN - Florenico "Toby" Tobias, Sr., 82, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2000 in a Pasadena Texas hospital after a sudden illness. He was born on September 20, 1917 in San Marcos, Texas to Felipe Tobias and Elidia Eureste Tobias. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and a long time resident of Robstown. Mr. Tobias worked at the Naval Air Station in Corpus Christi and Kingsville for 39 years combined before his retirement. He took alot of pride in where he worked and with whom he worked. Mr. Tobias always enjoyed talking to people and he never met anyone he didn't like. He always went out of his way just to say "Hello" to everyone. He was a very loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather who will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends.
He is survived by three sons, Florencio (Norma) Tobias, Jr., of Arlington, Texas, Felipe S. Tobias of Birmingham, Alabama, and Samuel S. Tobias of Austin, Texas; two daughters, Maria E. (Isabel V.) Rojas of Pasadena, Texas and Rose Ena Cantu of San Pedro, California; four grandchildren: Jennifer Cantu, Michael Tobias, Gracie Royall, Jaime Rojas; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Rosary was recited at 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 3, 2000 at Ramon Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2000 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with burial to follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.

TOLAND

Born January 1, 1898 in the nineteenth century, Mrs. Lena Toland died March 2, 2000 at the age of 102. She was born in Snyder, Texas; daughter of Alonzo James Grantham and Mary Adeline House Grantham. The family came to Gregory in 1912 for Mr. Grantham to work in the Coleman-Fulton Pasture Co. store, but soon he was running the McKamey store as well as buying and selling cotton and grain. Later he worked in the bank.
Lena worked for the CFP company store in Gregory on Saturday and during the summer. She met her future husband, A.D. Toland, while he was driving a big Twin-City tractor breaking mesquite stumps out of the raw land in the Gregory area. They married in 1916. Shortly after Albert was turned down by the army in 1918 during World War I, they moved to Dallas with the Grantham family. The couple returned to South Texas in 1931 and located in Taft where Albert became a farmer. Lena took a job with the Taft Syndicate as a bookkeeper.
Mrs. Toland became active in Methodist Church and civic affairs in Taft and rearing her two sons, Albert, Jr. and Jim, both of whom have preceded her in death.
She was an active member of the Taft Woman's Club, serving in just about every office. She was recognized by the Texas Federation of Woman's Clubs.
As a member of the United Methodist Church, Mrs. Toland devoted a great deal of time to affairs of the church, as well as teaching Sunday School for a number of years. She organized the Lena Toland Class shortly after the end of World War II for the returning service men and their wives. After completing 22 years as the teacher of the class she was honored with a program called "A Time for Remembering". The Woman's Society of Christian Service recognized her work by according her a life membership. She was active on many boards and committees of her church and was instrumental in organizing a church resale shop that is still in existence.
During WWII she was active in Red Cross work and was recognized for her contributions.
She maintained an interest in community affairs and was honored by the Kiwanis Club for "Dedicated Community Service."
Mrs. Toland's life spanned an era of change. As a little girl she and her sister had the job of hitching Hex, a big bay horse, to the surrey for a trip to church, and while she enjoyed telling tales of the past, she lived in the present, taking up art lessons in later years.
Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Betty Albin Toland of Portland; six granddaughters: Nancy and Hilbern Briscoe of Seminole, Texas, Julie and Johnny Griffin of Eldorado, Texas, Patti and Johnny Carver of Taft, Texas, Kathy and Johnny Jones of Sonora, Texas, Rebecca Swan and Melinda Toland both of Dallas, Texas; 14 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the First United Methodist Church 302 McIntyre Ave. Taft, Texas 78390, The Taft Public Library P.O. Box 416 Taft, Texas 78390-0416, and to The Blackland Museum 301 Green Ave. Taft, Texas 78390 or to the charity of choice.
Memorial services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 2000 at the First United Methodist Church.
She will be buried beside her husband in San Patricio Memorial Gardens.

TREVINO

ARANSAS PASS TX - Julia Ann Trevino, 30, a life long resident of Aransas Pass, Texas, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2000 at a Corpus Christi hospital. She was born July 3, 1969 in Aransas Pass to Ernest and Eva Trevino.
She is survived by her mother and step-father, Eva Villarreal and Johnny Vasquez of Aransas Pass; her father. Ernest Trevino of Alice, Texas; two brothers, Gabriel Trevino and Ricky Castillo, both of Aransas Pass and numerous other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be conducted Sunday March 5, 2000 at 4:00 p.m. at Charlie Marshall Chapel, Aransas pass with Father Charles Doherty officiating.
Burial will be private.

VAUGHN

Violet "Vi" May Bostock Vaughn born January 1, 1907, in Buchanan, West Virginia, passed away on February 25, 2000, at the age of 93 after a short illness.
Preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Colonel Harley C. Vaughn; sister, Alberta Bostock; and brother, King Bostock.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Randy Young; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Carolyn and Scott Calzia; grandson, David Young; great-grandson, Kyle Calzia; sister Jane Troutman; and several nieces and great-nephews.
She was raised in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. After marrying in 1941, she became a dedicated Air Force wife who enjoyed the challenges and travel that a military career provides. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who treasured her family. Upon her husband's retirement from the U.S. Air Force, they resided in Corpus Christi, Texas, for 30 years. Following his death in 1994, she moved to Sacramento to be closer to her daughter's family.
A memorial service is planned for later this spring.

VILLA

INGLESIDE - Andres Garza Villa, 57, a life long resident of Ingleside, Texas, passed away Friday, March 3, 2000 at his home. He was born November 28, 1942 in Ingleside to Felipe and Eva Villa. He was employed with Acker Gulf Marine for 10 years and was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Gloria Villa; his parents, Felipe and Eva Garza Villa; three brothers, Felipe, Leopoldo, and Feliberto and his sister, Nieves Villa.
He is survived by his wife Elisa Villa of Ingleside; his son, Andres Villa of McAllen; his two daughters, Laura Villa of Rockport and Gloria Wright of Ingleside; three brothers, Jesus "Poncho" (Tomasa) Villa of Sinton, Rudy (Gerry) Villa of Aransas Pass, and Leandro (Teresa) Villa of Portland; three sisters, Teresa (Jesse) Alegria of Ft. Worth, Belen (Ricardo) Ramirez and Guadalupe Trevino, all of Ingleside; and his seven grandchildren.
Rosary will be recited Sunday, March 6, 2000 at 7:00 p.m. at Charlie Marshall Chapel in Aransas Pass.
Mass will be celebrated Monday, March 7, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Ingleside with Father Tom Wellar as celebrant.
Burial will follow at Gregory Cemetery.

VILLARREAL

Jesus F. Villarreal passed away on March 1, 2000 at his home. He was 92 years old.
He was born in Nuevo Leon, Mexico on December 24, 1907 to Faustino and Lina Villarreal.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Faustino and Lina Villarreal; a brother, Faustino Villarreal, Jr. and nephews, Cruz Rangel and Andy Villarreal.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary R. Villarreal; one daughter, Belinda V. (Ruben) Ramirez of Corpus Christi and five grandchildren: Federico M. (Cindy) Mireles, Jr. and Jessica M. (Robert) Scott of Columbus, Georgia, Cruz (Leslie) Rangel, Jr. of Lubbock, Texas, Angel (Monica) Rangel of Corpus Christi and Marcy (Richard) Clemincing of Kentucky.
The family will be receiving friends on Sunday, March 5, 2000 from 12:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. with a Rosary being recited that evening at 7:00 p.m.
A funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. on Monday, March 6, 2000 for a 10:00 a.m. mass at Holy Family Catholic Church.
Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Jaime Trevino.

WOOD

Catherine June Collins Holden Wood died on the 28th day of February 2000 at the age of 97 years, 9 months and 10 days. She was the last member of the Pioneer family of Livingston Gideon and Catherine Maria Adams Collins.
Catherine June Collins Holden Wood was born June 18, 1902 in Collins, Texas, now called Ben Bolt, to L.G. and Catherine Maria Adams Collins. Her parents were South Texas Pioneers and moved from Ben Bolt to Corpus Christi in 1906. Mr. Collins built the city's first movie house and the old bathhouse on North Beach that later became a very popular amusement park.
June graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1921. She was a secretary of the Freshman, Sophomore and Junior Classes, '18, '19, '20; Society Editor of La Gaviota the yearbook, Senior Beauty and a member of the Menger Debating Club, '21. June was Queen Sweet Pea in the Splash Day Celebration now known as Buccaneer Days.
Her husband, Ralph R. Wood, established one of the city's best-known law firms, Wood, Boykin & Wolter.
Before her marriage to Ralph, June worked at Lichtenstein's Dept. Store as a clerk in Ladies Ready to Wear. She moved up to Personal Shopper and finally to buyer for Lichtenstein's.
She was a member of the Lawyer's Wives Club and Garden Club. She and Ralph were very involved in the establishment of Parkway Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her granddaughter, Helen Holden Bryan (Scott) and great-grandson, Jeffery Bryan of San Antonio, Texas; nieces: Berta Heinly Yager (Joe D.), Omaha, Nebraska, Betty Heinly McKenzie (Jim Tom), Arlington, Texas, Kay Collins Artzberger, Houston, Texas, Gene Waldron Hudgins, Houston, Texas and Nancy Jackson Waldron, Corpus Christi, Texas; nephews: Harvey B. Newberry (Lois), Lagarto, Texas, Bruce L. Collins, Jr. (Elenita), Corpus Christi, Texas, E. Marvin Collins, Corpus Christi, Texas and Norman G. Collins (Trutti), Chula Vista, California; Sister-in-law, Lucile T. Collins, Corpus Christi, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews.
June was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph R. Wood, her son, James Edward Holden; parents, L. G. and Catherine (Kate) Collins; brothers, Norman G. Collins and Bruce L. Collins and sisters: Elizabeth (Bess) Collins Heinly, Mildred (Sid) Collins Newberry McCampbell and L. Gene (Gene) Collins Waldron.
A Graveside Service honoring the life of Catherine June Collins Holden Wood will be held Saturday, March 4, 2000 at Seaside Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m.
