Charity League Style Show raises $110,000 for symphony, gives derby a run for its money
The annual Charity League Style Show and Luncheon raised more than $110,000 for the Corpus Christi Symphony Orchestra, show organizers announced at the event Thursday.
More than 600 people attended the "Run for the Roses" show that featured Julian Gold's spring 2000 fashions, including collections from New York fashion designer David Meister. The show, held at the Omni Bayfront Hotel, was sponsored by Julian Gold and featured a Kentucky Derby theme, complete with models in hats and live horses on the lawn.
Lee Gwozdz, executive director of the symphony, said the money raised by the League will help buy new staging equipment, instruments and an updated music library.
The top six Charity League fund-raisers were: Nancy Hawn, Courtenay Berry, Mary Clark, Susan Hicks, Catherine Susser and Becky Gardner.
