IceRays continue downward spiral
Hall yanks Skazyk jst 5:20 into first period of 7-2 loss to Austin Ice Bats

AUSTIN - The losing continues for the Corpus Christi IceRays.
The IceRays lost their second straight hockey game to division-rival Austin, 7-2, Friday at the Travis County Expo Center. It was Corpus Christi's third consecutive loss overall and the team's seventh loss in its last eight road games.
Corpus Christi fell to 16-16-7 (39 points) and the remain in last place in the Western Professional Hockey League Central Division.
Corpus Christi has given up 15 goals in its last two games.
Austin improved to 20-6-2 (42 points) and gain a share of second place of third place with Fort Worth (20-13-2). Central Texas leads the WPHL Central Division with a record of 31-10-1 (63 points).
Austin defeated Corpus Christi, 3-1, last Saturday and the IceRays are 1-4-1 against the Ice Bats.
The IceRays fell behind 4-0 after one period and 5-0 at the 7:50 mark fo the second period before IceRays forward Tobin Praznik scored two power-play goals-his 24th and 25th goals of the year - to supply some measure of offense for Corpus Christi.
Austin kept Corpus Christi on the penalty kill often, scoring on four of six power-play opportunities.
Austin's Tyler Perry scored what proved to be the game winner 17:01 into the first period.
IceRays coach Taylor Hall pulled starting goalie Eddy Skazyk 5:20 into the first period after Jim Shepherd's goal gave Austin an early 2-0 lead. Skazyk saw four shots before being replaced by Jason Genik. The goalie change echoed an identical decision made by Hall a night earlier. Thursday, the Corpus Christi coach pulled Genik in lieu of Skazyk after Genik let in two goals on two shots in the IceRays' 8-7 shootout loss to the Fort Worth. Skazyk went on to take the loss in overtime in Thursday's game, while Genik lost Friday. Genik also gave up two first period goals to give Austin a 4-0 after 20 minutes of play. Corpus Christi will try to manage one win on its three-game road trip today at Alexandria.
