ADAMS
Frank B. Adams, Independent Oil and Gas Operator, died Monday, January 3, 2000 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was 79 years old. Frank is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jeanne Stewart Adams, six children, John Stewart Adams of Corpus Christi, Annette Adams Jarmon (Paul) of Austin, Texas, Marie Adams of Corpus Christi, Joan Adams Wolfe (Bill) of Austin, Texas, Dorothy Adams Basso (Cory) of Montclair, New Jersey, Austin William Adams (Rishi) of Austin, Texas; 11 grandchildren; Angelique Adams Edl (John), Eric Adams, Martin Adams; Brown Jarmon, Stewart Jarmon and Parker Jarmon; Will Wolfe, Sam Wolfe and Sadie Wolfe; Hudson Basso and Lily Adams, and one great grandson, John Stewart Edl. His brothers, Milton Lewis Adams, Lewis Jones Adams, Henry Adams and sisters, Margaret Adams Williams and Marion Adams Rast. He was predeceased by his parents, Col. Lewis Milton Adams and Marion Jones Adams, a sister Mary Adams, his brothers Edwin Adams and John Lewis Adams.
Born April 30, 1920 in Washington, D.C., Frank came to Corpus Christi with his family in 1930 when his father was appointed director of the Port of Corpus Christi. Frank attended Corpus Christi Academy and graduated with honors in 1941 from Texas A&M University where he was a member of the Ross Volunteers. During WWII he served as Squadron Commander of the 391st Bomber Group flying B-26 Martin Marauders. He was shot down over Calais, France in 1944 and spent 12 months as a prisoner of war in Germany. He was awarded the Purple Heart and the Air Medal. After the war he rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and served in the Air Force Reserves until 1965.
Frank was dedicated to his family and business and in addition spent the last 46 years of his life helping recovering alcoholics. He was a charter member and current President of C.C. Alanos, Inc. founded in 1957. In 1958 he joined the board of Guest House, an alcoholism treatment center for male and female clergy and religious in Lake Orion, Michigan.
Among Frank's many accoumplishments was the ability to make us all laugh. For that, he will be forever remembered.

ALFARO
Juan Alejandro Alfaro born on May 3, 1908, passed away in his daughter's home on January 5, 2000, at the age of 91. He was born in Cerritos, San Luis Potosi, Mexico. A World War II Veteran, he was a long-time resident of Corpus Christi. He retired from the Naval Base after 25 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esthela Montes Alfaro and a son, Juan Josaphat Alfaro. He was long-time member of Primera Iglesia Assemblies of God Corpus Christi. He is survived by two sons, Nephtali and Eli Alfaro, and two daughters, Judy A. Ramirez and Imelda A. Cedillo. He is also survived by seven grandchildren. He was cared for by caregiver, Nora Perdomo and family friends. A service will be held at Templo Aposento Alto, 1300 W. Mount Houston, Texas 77073 on January 7, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. Officiating the service and burial will be Rev. Eleazar Rodriguez Jr., pastor of Templo Aposento Alto Assemblies of God Church of Houston, Texas. Burial will be held at Veterans Cemetery at Veterans Memorial Drive.
BERNAL
Bartola H. Bernal, 85, passed away, January 5, 2000 after a short illness. Bartola worked many years with the laundry business in Corpus Christi and was the Founder of El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Pedro R. Bernal and her son Jesus H. Bernal.
She is survived by her daughter Julia B. (Robert) Arispe of Corpus Christi; her sisters, Jesusa H. (Guadalupe) Morales and Manuela H. Salinas both of Corpus Christi; her brothers, Filberto Hernandez, Jose (Elma) Hernandez, and Benito (Nieves) Hernandez all from Houston. Her survivors include four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers will be Eugene Martinez, Oscar Garcia, Matias Martinez, Noe Hernandez, David Rodriguez, Gabriel Martinez.
Visitation is scheduled at 2:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Friday, January 7, 2000, at Clifford Jackson Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 7:00 PM that same evening. The Funeral Service will be at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 8, 2000 at El Buen Pastor United Methodist Church, 1762 15th. Street with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
BLAKE
ORANGE GROVE, TEXAS -Bronson Charles Blake, age 19, passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2000 in a Corpus Christi Hospital.
Mr. Blake was born in Peterborough, New Hampshire on January 9, 1980 and served in the United States Navy for seven months. He was currently attending college at Texas A&M University Corpus Christi, and also employed by TGI Fridays.
Mr. Blake is preceded in death by his father, Richard Blake, Sr. in 1999.
Survivors include: his mother, Kathleen Blake, Orange Grove, Texas; One sister, Courtney Blake, Orange Grove, Texas; One Half-Sister, Renee Crosby, Tuscon, Arizona; One Half-Brother, Richard Blake, Jr., Oregon; Paternal Grandmother, Alvina Blake, Winchendon, Massachusetts; Maternal Grandparents, John and Mary Skolnicki, Lorain, Ohio; Numerous aunts and uncles and cousins.
A rosary will be recited Friday, January 7, 2000 at 7:00 PM in the Dobie Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral mass will be held Saturday, January 8, 2000 at 11:00 AM at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church in Orange Grove. Interment will follow in the St. John of the Cross Cemetery.

CANALES
ROBSTOWN - Consuelo Carrington Canales, 80, passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 1999 in league City, Texas after a sudden illness. Mrs. Canales was born on October 23, 1919 in Cuero, Texas but had resided in Robstown most of her life except for the past five months where she has resided in League City, Texas. She was a homemaker, and a member of St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church in Clear Lake, Texas formerly of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Robstown, Texas. Mrs. Canales was a loving mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
She is survived by two daughters: Lydia C. (Ramon) Ramirez of League City, Linda Uribe of Robstown, two sons: Ray (Teresa) Canales of Baytown, and Raul "Roy" Canales of Robstown, one brother: Ernesto (Maria Antonia) Carrington of Corpus Christi, three sisters: Santos Mendez of Robstown, Trinidad Guerra of Robstown, and Pauline Garcia of Abilene, one brother-in-law: Valentin (The Late Refugia) Flores of Corpus Christi, fourteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.
A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 7, 2000 at Ramon Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2000 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Robstown Memorial Park Cemetery.
DE LOS SANTOS
Gilbert "Fide" De Los Santos, age 56, passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2000 in a local hospital.
Mr. De Los Santos was born on March 24, 1943 in Choate, Texas to Hilberto and Eloisa De Los Santos. He served in the U.S. Army and was married to Olivia Rodriguez on June 29, 1963 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Fide was a boxer and started his boxing career as a young adult. Gilbert's great rise in the boxing world began when he won his first Golden Gloves Title while still in high school. In 1968, Manuel Cirlos saw enormous raw talent in the young man who needed a trainer. Under Cirlos direction, Gilbert won many title championships. Some of the titles Gilbert won include his 1970 Texas Welterweight Championship, the 1972 Texas Junior Middleweight Championship and the 1976 Texas MiddleWeight Championship. Gilbert's record was 38-5 with eighteen knockouts. Gilbert fought from coast to coast continously defending his title. Although a retired professional boxer, Gilbert will always hold "El Titulo Del Campeon" in the eyes of his family and true friends
Surviving family includes his wife of thirty-six years, Olivia De Los Santos of Corpus Christi, seven children; Cindie (Leo) Gonzalez of San Antonio, Texas, Chrissy (Lawrence) Anthony of Houston, Texas, Mattie (Roland) Gonzales, Gilbert (Corina) De Los Santos, Gabriel De Los Santos, Adrian De Los Santos and Javier De Los Santos, all of Corpus Christi, Texas. His mother Eloisa Caballero of Corpus Christi, Texas, three sisters; Dalia Herrera, Maria Elena Castenon, both of Corpus Christi and Angie Perez of Three Rivers; three brothers; Armando, Manuel and Rudy De Los Santos, all of Corpus Christi. Texas; seven grandchildren; Maegan Anthony, Lawrence Anthony Jr., Blake Guevara, Timothy Gonzales, Tristen Gonzales, Nicholas De Los Santos and Madeleine Olivia Gonzalez.
His father, Hilberto De Los Santos, a son, Santos De Los Santos, and two brothers preceded Gilbert in death.
There was a private prayer service and funeral service held by the family at the chapel of Memory Gardens Funeral Home. Entombment was held at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
HERRERA
Elizabeth G. Herrera, age 57, passed away January 3, 2000. She is survived by her husband Apolonio A. Mejia of Corpus Christi; a daughter, Raquel Herrera of Corpus Christi; two sons, Francisco G. Padilla and Jaime G. Padilla, both of Corpus Christi; three brothers: Joe, Pete and Johnny Gonzalez, all of Greely, Colorado; a sister, Carolina Torres of Greely, Colorado; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation and a Rosary were held Wednesday, January 5, 2000 at Trevi¤o Funeral Home. A mass was celebrated Thursday, Janury 6, 2000 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Burial will take plase today, January 7, 2000 at 11:00 a.m. at Laredo Catholic Cemetery, Laredo, Texas.
ESCAMILLA
Mrs. Guadalupe Campos Escamilla, 84, of Corpus Christi, passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2000.
She was a loving mother and grandmother and a very spiritual and devoted Catholic. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She is survived by three sons, Reynaldo Campos (Betty) Ortiz, Greg J. (Irma) Escamilla, and Jose M. (Rose) Escamilla all of Corpus Christi. She also raised three grandchildren, Frances (Bob) Perkins and Reynaldo (Susie) Ortiz, Jr. both of Corpus Christi, Rodolfo (Rose) Ortiz of San Antonio; also surviving are eight grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren; one sister, Virginia Lerma and cousin, Leonor "Bebe" Ramirez both of Corpus Christi.
The family will be receiving friends on Friday, January 7, 2000 from 11:00 AM until 9:00 PM at Memorial Funeral Home, Crosstown Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM that evening.
Funeral procession will depart at 10:30 AM on Saturday.
Rites of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 8, 2000 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
FRANCIS
William B. "Buck" Francis, 76, retired sportswriter of the Corpus Christi Caller Times was called by the Lord, January 5, 2000 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Buck was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years Joyce Francis.
He is survived by four children, Deena Westbrook (Ralph) of the Woodlands, TX, Bruce Francis (Debi) of Corpus Christi, TX; Glenn Francis (Andrea) of Sugarland, TX; Melissa Wright (David) of Corpus Christi, TX; nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Buck was born on May 28, 1923, to Bruce & Lucille Francis in Childress, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
He graduated from Abilene High School in 1942. He served in the South Pacific for the U.S. Navy from 1942-1946. Upon discharge from the United States Navy he attended McMurry College graduating in 1949 with a degree in journalism. He began a
career as a sportswriter for the Abilene Reporter News. He also worked for the Pampa Daily News and the Snyder Daily News prior to coming to Corpus Christi. He joined the sports staff of the Corpus Christi Caller Times in July of 1959, retiring in 1987. Buck was an active member of St. Lukes United Methodist Church, CC Golf Assoc., Over 50's Golf Assoc., & Over 60's Golf Assoc. He was also a member of the Lions Club & bowled in the Seniors League at Saratoga Lanes.
The family will be receiving friends Friday, January 7, 2000 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Seaside Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at St. Lukes United Methodist Church at 3151 Reid Drive at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2000.
Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Grandsons, Bruce Talamantes, Ryan Westbrook, AJ Wright, Chuck Francis and dear friends, Dean Stafford and Dave Donnan.

Guadalupe Barrera Gonzalez, 77, of Robstown, TX went home with the Lord on Tuesday, January 4, 2000.
Mrs. Gonzalez was born in Lockhart, TX on July 14, 1922 to the late Augustine and Esmerehilda Camargo Barrera. She married Juan C. Gonzalez of Robstown, TX and moved in the Late 1960's to King City, Ca. She was a very loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Guadalupe B. Gonzalez, Juan Gilberto Gonzalez, daughter, Ide G. Lopez, brothers, Serapio C. Barrera, Pedro C. Barrera, Ignacio C. Barrera and Juan C. Barrera.
She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years Juan C. Gonzalez of Salinas, CA,; six sons, Carlos (Nellie) Gonzalez of Banquete, TX., Juan B. HARRISON
Dorothy May Harrison, 89, passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2000 in a local hospital. Miss Harrison was born on May 25, 1910. She moved to Corpus Christi 14 years ago, having previously lived in Indiana where she worked as a bookkeeper and in sales in a department store. She had been active in both the Church of Christ and the Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her niece, Joan K. Latham of Corpus Christi; a nephew, Gene Kline of Sanderson; two great-nephews, John Latham and Taylor Latham and one great niece Katrina Gentry, all of Corpus Christi.
Memorial services will be conducted at 7:00 P.M., Friday, January 7, 2000 in the Sawyer-George Funeral Chapel with Pastor Buddy Murphrey officiating.
HINTON
Harry L. Hinton, a lifetime resident of Live Oak County, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2000, at the age of 87. Harry was the descendant of Live Oak County pioneers John Powell and Joshua Hinton, both of whom were participants in the formation of Live Oak County in 1856.
Born November 20, 1912, in Oakville, Texas, to Harry and Ella Ferrel Hinton, Harry graduated from A&I College in Kingsville. After graduation, he returned to George West, Texas to become a high school principal and coach. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII and was stationed in the Pacific, achieving the rank of Captain. Harry returned to Live Oak County after the war, and again joined the school system in George West to teach for several years while also farming and ranching.
When his Uncle Ira passed away in 1953, Harry assumed management of the family farmland and other real estate. He contributed to his community throughout his lifetime. Harry was Chairman of the Live Oak County Centennial Celebration in 1956. In 1962, he was elected Live of the Board of Trustees of the George West Independent School District, member of the George West Kiwanis Club and member of the Board of Trustees of the Grace Armentrout Museum. An avid outdoors man, Harry was a long-time member of the South Texas Wolf Hunter's Association in his earlier years.
Harry is survived by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Anne; son, John Ira Hinton, his wife Susan and grandchildren, William and Robin of Austin; son Harry Stephen Hinton, his wife, Harriet and grandchildren Marshall and Erin of Round Rock and grandchild, Stephanie and her husband Stan Harris and great-granddaughter Elizabeth of Albuquerque, New Mexico; daughter, Melissa Anne Hinton Stotts and her husband Al Stotts and grandson Cody of Albuquerque, New Mexico; son Byron Beaty Hinton and his wife Pam and grandchildren, Beau and Hannah of Austin.
Pallbearers are William Beyer, E.D. Cooper, Robert Dirks, Marshall Hinton, William Hinton and Cody Stotts.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2000 at 10:00 AM at George West Church of Christ. Burial will occur at the Oakville Cemetery in Oakville, Texas.

Clarence Lee Inmon, Sr., 59, of Corpus Christi passed away Thursday, January 5,2000 at his residence. Clarence was born December 14, 1940. He had worked for Best Buy until his illness.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Ann; two sons, Clarence Lee Inmon, Jr. (Cynthia) of Victoria; Joseph Anthony Crowder of Corpus Christi; one daughter, Maxine Denise Stuart (Linc) of McAllen; three grandsons, Michael John Inmon, James Daly Stuart, Zachary Thomas Stuart; one granddaughter, Amber Dawn Inmon; and a cousin, Eunice Leervig of Houston.

JOHNSON
Arlyne M. Johnson, 77, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2000 in a local hospital.
She was born on June 27, 1922 in Albany, New York and was a graduate of Albany Business College. She married Luther M. Johnson on September 29, 1942 in Delmar, New York and together welcomed their daughter, Marilyn. Mrs. Johnson was a resident of Jamestown, New York from 1945 to 1981 when she moved to live with her daughter in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was employed as a secretary to Clayton A. Rugg from 1954 until she moved to Texas. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by husband, Luther M. Johnson; her mother, Marion Markell; her father, Herbert F. Markell, Sr. and her brother, Herbert F. Markell, Jr.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her daughter, Marilyn J. (Richard) Martin of Corpus Christi; two granddaughters, Christine (Bobby) Poe of Corpus Christi and Danielle (J.J.) McKown of San Marcos, Texas; two great-grandsons, Sean Poe of Corpus Christi and Richard McKown of San Marcos; one great-grandaughter, Shana Poe of Corpus Christi; her sister, Marion L Niver of Grant Pass, Oregon; and several nieces and nephews.

Brenda Gertrude Kinney, 45, passed away Monday, January 3, 2000. She was a member of Jehovah's Witness Kingdom Hall, and was employed at the Westwood Manor Nursing Home as a Medication Nurse.

Margarita "Margie" Prado, age 36, born June 10, 1963 passed away on January 6, 2000.
She was a resident of Corpus Christi.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents, Henry (Alejandra Z.) Prado.

Delia C. Serna, 51, passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2000 in a local hospital.
Delia will be remembered by her friends and family for her kind and generous heart. She will be greatly missed by us all. In God's hands may she rest in peace. She is preceded in death by her husband Jesus Serna, her parents Julio & Carmen Carrillo, and her brother Daniel O. Carrillo.

Mary Frances Smith, 66, of Corpus Christi, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2000.
Graveside Services are scheduled for 1:00 PM on Friday, January 7, 2000 at The Robstown Cemetery.
VEGA
Benustiano P. Vega Sr., passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2000 after a long illness.
He had a favorite saying "I'm the richest man on earth, because of all my children."
He was a United State Airforce Veteran of World War II. He was a wonderful father and was always there for his children.
He was preceded in death by his son, David Vega, Sr.; his parents, Antonio and San Juanita Vega; and two sisters, Amelia and Dolores.
Benustiano is survived by his wife of 58 years, Martha U. Vega; two sons, Benustiano (Dolores) Vega, Jr. and Roy (Gracie) Vega; seven daughters, Elvira (Carlos) Alvarado, Elma V. Suarez, Nelda (Eugene) Frobish, Delia (Clemente) Rodriguez, Lydia (Joe) Alvarado, Irma (Felipe) Salas, Diana (Ramiro) Garcia; one brother, Lupe (Berta) Vega of Donna, Texas; thirty-four grandchildren, Carlos Jr., Ruby, Rose, Ruth, Gloria, David, Richelle, Benustiano III, Alberto, Marie, Luther, Jacob, Nora, Cindy, Nancy, Leonel, Daniel, Joe II, Abel, Ruby, Lori, David Jr., Annette, Michael, Mark, Roy David, Roxanne, April, Rene Jr., Amy, Frank II, Priscilla, Brenda, Benjamin; thirty-three great-grandchildren, Justin, Jared, Jason, Matthew, Amanda Rose, Nathaniel, John, Jaclyn, Myranda, Victoria, Adam Jr., Gabriela, Valerie, Alberto Jr., Alex, Vivien, Ashley, Joseph Jr., Seth, Alex, Abel Jr., Luis Jr., Brandon, Michael Jr., Alexis, Malichi, Jeremiah, Angel, Amaryss, Destiny, Frank III, Johathan, Brandon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at the Seaside Funeral Home from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM Friday, January 7, 2000 with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM in the Seaside Chapel. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 8, 2000 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Seaside Memorial Park.
WELCH
Dorothy M. Welch, age 76, passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2000. Dorothy was born on April 18, 1923 in Gonzales, TX. to the late Barney and Ozella Beene. Mrs. Welch started volunteering at the Corpus Christi Housing Authority (La Armada Residence Foundation) in 1971 and was President from 1979-1998. She received numerous awards of recognition from the Corpus Christi Police Department for her work for crime prevention and the initiation of the "Just Say No to Dope" Program in the housing community. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Surviving family include six sons, Harold Welch of San Antonio, TX., Robert Welch of White Settlement, TX, Jimmy Welch of IL., James Welch of Ft. Worth, TX., Donald Welch of San Antonio, TX., and Stephen Welch of Burleson, TX. and one daughter, Brenda Welch of San Antonio, TX.; seven brothers, twelve grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren.
Mrs. Welch was preceded in death by husband, R.L. Welch.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 till 9:00 pm on Friday, January 7, 2000 at Cage Mills Funeral Home with funeral service to be held at 10:00 am Saturday, January 8, 2000 at Cage Mills Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
WELLS
Dorothy Beatrice Wells, born January 3, 1914 to Albert May and Mary Josephine May in Georgetown, Texas, passed away Wednesday, January 5, 2000.
She was one of seven children of a large family that was filled with love and devotion for one another. They stayed in close touch with one another down through the years. Dorothy was the last surviving member of this family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bozie F. Wells and daughter, Karen.
She is survived by her son, James Wells, daughter-in-law, Sharon Wells, and grandchildren, Robert and Julie Wells of San Antonio, Texas and many nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Southwestern Methodist University at the age of 21 with a degree in English along with a teaching certificate. Her life was dedicated to the love and care of her family and the education of children. She was a teacher in the Corpus Christi Independent School District for over 30 years.
Visitation will be Friday, January 7, 2000 at the funeral home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, January 8, 2000 in the Cook-Walden/Davis Funeral Home Chapel, Georgetown, Texas with Dr. David D. Edwards, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Georgetown. Serving as pallbearers will be: Tim Taylor, Leslie Taylor, Beau Taylor, Kirk Goodman, Alan Taylor and Adam Goodman. Honorary pallbearer will be James Love.
WILLIAMS
James. A. "Slush" Williams of Gladewater, Texas died Tuesday, December 14, 1999 in a Longview hospital following a long illness.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Barbara Selby Williams; a son, James Sloan Williams of Austin and a sister, Mrs. Bryan Putman of Osage Beach, Missouri.
His ashes will be interred next to the ashes of his son, William Selby Williams, who preceded him in death in 1975. The memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 8, 1999 at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 700 S. Broadway, with The Reverend Ned F. Bowersox officiating.
Mr. Williams lived in Corpus Christi for 10 years and was a member of The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd until 1976, when he retired to Gladewater. Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Texaco, Inc. for 31 years as a petroleum engineer and drilling foreman. Mr. Williams was a 1941 graduate of Texas A&M University and upon his graduation immediately began his military service. He served his country in the United States Army in WWII as a second lieutenant in the transportation corps. After five years, he was released with the rank of captain.
During his retirement, he continued to serve his church and community. He was Junior Warden at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Gladewater, was a member of the Lions Club and the Christian Men's Alliance. He was the St. Mark's representative to the Gladewater Ministerial Alliance and a volunteer at Meadow Pines Hospital in Longview and at Manna House in Gladewater, an interfaith food ministry.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Mr. Jams Williams' name be made to the Daughters of the King at The Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd.
