Area Realtors gear up for annual Sell-A-Bration
S.A. speaker Dan Baker will lecture on 'Real People in a Real Business'
The Corpus Christi Association of Realtors is gearing up for the annual South Texas Realtor Convention, which will focus on continuing real estate education and real estate issues.
Sell-A-Bration is the theme of the convention, which will draw about 400 people from the Corpus Christi area. This year they'll meet from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 22.
Dan Baker, a motivational speaker from San Antonio, will speak during lunch on "Real People in a Real Business."
Other speakers will address fitness, personal investing and fashion for the real estate audience.
The meeting also will answer the question that many have invested in finding out: Who will win the association's 75th anniversary diamond?
The group has been selling three chances for $10 since April.
New features at park
Heritage West, a gated manufactured home park near Five Points, has completed the community room, pool and recreational attractions at the park. The 350-lot park opened in October.
Heritage West hopes to carve a niche in the housing market by offering an upscale location for manufactured housing.
"You can have affordable housing and country club living," said Ted Anderson, a developer for the site.
The park now has a 4,000-square-foot community room, a basketball court, a pool and two playgrounds.
More than 20 manufactured homes have moved into the 350-lot park.
Redoing McDonald's
A new McDonald's will replace the one that was torn down on Leopard Street.
Quail Construction of New Braunfels is doing site work for the new building at 11202 Leopard St.
Quail Construction also will start building McDonald's restaurants in Robstown and at the corner of Rodd Field Road and South Padre Island Drive.
The company just has completed a McDonald's at South Coast Plaza at the corner of Greenwood and South Padre Island drives.
New ownership
Orlando J. Salinas is the new owner of the Pattillo Pavilion, a 5-acre area for social events at 5525 S. Alameda.
The Pattillo Pavilion is formerly owned by the Pattillo family, which purchased the property from the Knights of Columbus six years ago.
