McMullen County's voters pass school improvement bonds 194-82
McMullen County voters on Saturday overwhelmingly approved a $3.5 million bond issue for the county's school district.
Seventy percent of those who cast ballots voted for the bond issue. The final tally was 194 for and 82 against.
"I was concerned, so I'm relieved it passed,'' said Frank Franklin, superintendent of the McMullen County Independent School District. "It's for the good of the school children in this county."
The money will be used to build a pool, build a library, upgrade technology and make other school improvements.
The district does not anticipate raising taxes because of the bond issue.
