IceRays sign five new players for upcoming season, including third goalie of offseason

From staff and correspondent reports

Five new players have signed with the IceRays for the 2001-2002 season, the team announced Tuesday: defensemen Shawn Frappier and Yannick Latour, forwards Frank Kovacs and Francis Boulay and goalie Matt Wealick.
Frappier, 25, played last season with the Johnstown Chiefs of the ECHL, where he was team captain, scoring 33 points in 58 games. The 6-foot native of Sudbury, Ontario, has played all but 11 of his 244 career games in the ECHL.
Latour, a 20-year-old native of Montreal, had seven points in 42 games last season as a rookie with the Quad City Mallards of the UHL.
Kovacs, a seven-year veteran from Regina, Saskatchewan, was originally a fourth-round draft pick of the Minnesota North Stars in the 1990 NHL Entry Draft. The 29-year-old is currently under contract to play next season in Hungary; he likely won't join the IceRays until sometime after the WPHL All-Star break.
Boulay, 22, split time between four teams last season: the Colorado Gold Kings of the WCHL and in the Mohawk Valley Prowlers, Saginaw/Ohio Gears and Fort Wayne Komets of the UHL. In 18 total games played, he scored 10 points.
Wealick, the third goalie signed by the IceRays during the offseason, is a recent graduate of the University of British Columbia.
