ALLEN
Mr. Thomas Murphy Allen, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2000. He was a resident of Corpus Christi, Texas. Mr. Allen was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed by family.
He is survived by wife, Mable Allen of Corpus Christi, Texas; four daughters: Nancy (Lyman) Shannon of San Antonio, Texas, Barbara (William) Ross of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Delia Choate and Christine (Jack) Cross both of Corpus Christi, Texas; five grandchildren; and one beloved brother-in-law, John Foster of Laredo, Texas.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2000 at St. Pius X Catholic Church
BLACKBURN
KINGSVILLE - Dessie Irene Blackburn passed away on April 20, 2000 in a Kingsville hospital at the age of 88. She was born on August 30, 1911 to Richard and Frances Brewer. She was a former resident of Abilene and Kingsland before moving to Kingsville. She was a member of Kingsville Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Claud Blackburn and a son, Robert Daniel Blackburn. Survivors include one son, Curtis (Laretta) Blackburn of Kingsville, and daughter-in-law, Wynetta Blackburn of Abilene; four grandchildren: Vicki (Gary) Spargo of Abilene, Dale (Mittie) Blackburn of Abilene, Lynette (Steve) Austin of Kingwood, and Mitchell (Melinda) Blackburn of Boca Raton, Florida; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2000 at Turcotte-Piper Mortuary with Brother Tim Bennett officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 24, 2000 at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park, Burnet, Texas.
CANTU
Eutimio G. Cantu, 95, of Corpus Christi passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2000.
Funeral Services are pending with Memorial Funeral Home, Holly Chapel.
DART
Longtime Uvaldean Julien S. Dart, 80, died March 26, 2000, at his residence.
Dart was born October 27, 1919, in San Antonio. He married Kathryn Schwartz on April 28, 1940, in Piedras Negras, Mexico. He was a member of St. Phillip's Episcopal Church.
Dart was a flight instructor at Garner Field during World War II. Following the war, he taught flying lessons and did charter flying work while managing Garner Field Airport.
Dart kept in touch with many of his former students through the years, and attended the Garner Field Reunion held October 15-16 at the Aviation Museum of Texas, located in one of the Garner Field hangars. He was a Supporting Member of the Aviation Museum.
In addition to his flight-related activities, Dart was a longtime businessman who owned and operated a pair of clothing retail establishments, Julien's and Kathyrn's.
Kathryn's was originally the Lee Schwartz Dress Shop, located at 120 N. Getty, which Dart purchased from his father-in-law, the late Lee Schwartz.
When he purchased the former Rowlands clothing store at 200 N. Getty from the late Melvin Rowland, Dart renamed both Rowland's and the Schwartz store. The one purchased from his wife's family was named in her honor, and the other bore his name.
According to the Uvalde County history "A Proud Heritage," in 1970, Dart purchased the hotel and restaurant at the corner of North Getty and East North Street from Uvalde businessman Don Friend and restored its name to the Kincaid Hotel and Restaurant.
The clothing stores were sold in 1984, and the hotel during the late 1980s, when Dart retired.
He is preceded in death by his brothers, Joseph Dart, and Daniel Dart; and grandson, Michael Julian Dart.
Dart is survived by his wife of 59 years; two daughters, Ellen Dart of Austin and Lynda Helton of Corpus Christi; three grandchildren, Lisa Greer and husband, Lawrence, Kevin Tyra and wife, Barbara, and Chris Taylor; three great-grandchildren, Jordan Greer, Adam Greer and Mandy Greer; and his very good friend, Fred J. Baumann.
Graveside services were held March 29, 2000 at 3:30 p.m. in the Uvalde Cemetery with the Rev. Don Baugh officiating.
Honorary pallbearers were Terry Moore, Dr. John Shudde, Herb Carper, Chris Carper and Claude Estes.
DUNN
Mary Ellen Dunn, 83, passed away Sunday, April 16, 2000.
She is survived by husband Johnnie Ervin Dunn; two sons, Johnnie Ervin Jr. and Don Michael; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
GUERRA
Francisca G. Guerra, 87, of Ontario, California and formerly of Alice, passed away April 17, 2000 after a short illness. Born in Tienditas, Texas in Duval County, Francisca was the wife of the late Ambrosio Guerra of Alice, Texas.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Guadalupe Garcia and Dario Garcia and three sisters, Hortensia Garcia, Romana Salinas and Rosenda Mendez and parents, Melecio and Daria Mena Garcia.
She is survived by one daughter, Wanda (Michael) Risner of Ontario, California and a nephew whom she raised, Ramiro (Cathy) Martinez of Irving, Texas; two grandchildren, Daniel "Mario Salinas" Salin of Hollywood, California and Sonia Venessa (Rufino III) Lopez of Houston, Texas. She is also survived by four step-children: Emilio Guerra of Ohio, Aurora (Octavio) Trejo and Azusena Torres of Alice, Texas and Manuel (Juanita) Guerra of Corpus Christi, Texas; three sisters, Petra Garcia, Eusebia Garcia and Minerva
(Juan) Salinas, all of Alice. Two brothers, Tristan (Susie) Garcia of Alice, Texas and Amador (Virginia) Garcia of San Antonio, Texas; 20 grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m Friday, April 21, 2000 at Chapel A, Ruben M. Garcia and Sons Funeral Services, In. 120 E. Front St.
Funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2000 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Interment will follow at New Collins Cemetery.
LITTLE
ROCKPORT, TX - Dorothy "Dottie" Jane Elizabeth Little, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2000 in Rockport, Texas. She was a homemaker and had resided in Rockport-Fulton since 1980. She was a Lions Eye Bank Donor.
She is survived by her husband, James "Jim Pat" Patrick Little of Rockport; a son, James Harrison (Cathy) Little of Rockport; a daughter, Terri Jane Setterbo of Fulton; seven grandchildren: John H. Little, Eric J. Little, Shenee A. Setterbo, Jacob J. Setterbo, Joshua J.D. Setterbo, Benjamin E. Setterbo and Naeda M.E. Setterbo; two step-grandchildren, Justin Mayes and Tony Reyes.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 22, 2000 at Charlie Marshall Chapel, Rockport-Fulton with interment following at Rockport Cemetery.
LUNA
BENAVIDES, TX - Raul Jose Luna, 57, a resident of Benavides for over 18 years, died Wednesday, April 19, 2000 in an Alice hospital after a sudden illness. He was an emergency medical technician (EMT) for the City of Benavides for over 10 years, and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Gloria Estella Luna of Benavides, Texas; a son, Eugenio (Yvette) Luna of San Diego, Texas; and a daughter, Diana Laura (Librado) Carrillo of Benavides, Texas; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, April 21, 2000 at the Garza Funeral Home in San Diego, Texas with a Prayer Service to be held at 7:00 p.m. that evening.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2000 at the Garza Funeral Home Chapel in San Diego, Texas with Bro. Manuel Garcia officiating.
Burial will follow at the Benavides Cemetery in Benavides, Texas.
MCKNIGHT
On Tuesday, April 18, 2000 at 5:40 a.m. Vivian C. McKnight was called to rest at the age of 86.
Visitation will be held at the Corpus Christi Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2000. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2000 at the Corpus Christi Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. C. L. Jones of West Haven Baptist Church and Rev. William L. Pullam, Pastor.
Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
MORGAN
Duane L. Morgan, age 79, passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2000.
Retired from Boeing Aircraft Company of Wichita, Kansas. Duane was born at Gate, Oklahoma, the third child of Coy L. Morgan and Violet Hull Morgan.
He attended Grade and High school at Gate Public Schools. Attended Friends University and graduated from Oklahoma State University. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Duane was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dr. Nova L. Morgan. Duane was a caring, loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather he will be missed by all who loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores of Portland, Texas; Son, Steven Morgan and his wife Lynn of Lufkin, Texas; and Daughter, Leslie Ortiz Of Wichita, Kansas; Sister, Eloyse Frazee and Brother, Coy L. Morgan Jr. of Wichita, Kansas; Six Grandchildren and four Great-Grandchildren all of Wichita, Kansas.
Memorial services will be held at the First Christian Church of Portland, Texas on Saturday the twenty-second at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to First Christian Church, 1103 Lang Rd.,Portland, Texas.
RAMON
Mary Sonia Rubio Ramon, 52, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2000 in a local hospital. She had been with the Corpus Christi Independent School District for 13 years and currently with Christus Spohn Hospital Shoreline for over two years.
She is preceded in death by her mother Elena Rubio.
She is survived by her husband Roy Ramon of Corpus Christi; her children, Arturo L. (Crystal) Chapa, Priscella (Lionel) Mendoza, and Eric (Erica) Chapa all from Corpus Christi; her father Frank (Mary) Rubio of Goliad, Texas; her aunt Anita Arriaga of Corpus Christi; her sisters, Olivia (Adam) Gibson of Conroe, Texas, Martha (Ramon) Garcia of Goliad, Texas, Gloria Cano of Goliad, Texas and Alma (Roland) Vargas also from Goliad, Texas. She is also survived by six grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled at 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday, April 21, 2000 at Angelus Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.
A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2000 at Holy Family Catholic Church with interment to follow at Rose Hill Memorial.
