Waco Wizards at Corpus Christi

  • NEXT GAME: The IceRays host the Abilene Aviators Wednesday, in a 7:05 p.m. game.
      
  • THE SCOOP: Waco will start the season without its franchise player, goalie Kory Cooper, who pulled his groin in practice Tuesday. Cooper, who won the WPHL's Rookie of the Year and Outstanding Goalie of the Year awards last season, will miss somewhere between 10 days and two weeks. Cooper posted with a 36-14-4 record last year. Cooper finished with a save percentage of 91, second to Corpus Christi's Jason Genik, who saved 92.7 percent of the shots he faced . . . Waco won the WPHL Central Division last year, edging Corpus Christi by one game in the loss column. Waco lost in the second round of the playoffs to San Angelo, three games to one.
