'Selena Forever' auditions set for Friday
Musical producers casting role of young singer

'Selena Forever' audition schedule
Open auditions for the Selena staged musical will take place in three Texas cities and Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Chicago, New York and Miami.
Casting agents are searching for a girl (age 8-11) to play an 8-year-old Selena and an adult (18 or older) to play an older Selena. They are also looking for musicians who can perform and sing.
Auditions will last two minutes. Girls will be asked to sing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" and young women will be asked to sing the Selena hits "Dreaming of You" and "I Could Fall in Love" without musical accompaniment.
Those auditioning are asked to wear street clothes and keep makeup to a mininum. Do not dress up as Selena, producers advise.
Bring a resume and two snapshots. Crowds may exceed the time constraints for auditioning. Showing up does not guarantee an audition. However, everyone on line will at least get an interview. For afternoon auditions, sign-ups begin one hour earlier than times stated.

Open auditions for roles in a stage musical based on the life of Tejano singer Selena will be held here Friday.
Auditions for the role of Selena as a young woman will begin at 10 a.m. Friday at Q Productions, 5410 Leopard St.
Producers of the musical "Selena Forever" are searching nationwide for an actress to play the singer as an adult.
Those auditioning should have some performing experience. Each audition will be 2 minutes long. Young women will be asked to sing Selena hits "Dreaming of You" and "I Could Fall in Love."
Those auditioning are asked to wear street clothes and keep makeup to a minimum. Producers advise those trying out not to dress up like Selena.
Robert Trevino, the San Antonio-based publicist for the musical, said parking at Q Productions will be available on a first-come, first-serve . Security will be enforced during the auditions.
Some may not receive auditions because of time constraints, so those who audition should bring a resume and two photographs of themselves.

Selena's father, Abe Quintanilla, said that although he has nothing to do with the musical or the auditions, he does approve of the musical.
The multimillion-dollar theatrical production will kick off its national tour in March and will feature a cast of 25.. The musical is slated for a 30-city tour after its premiere in San Antonio next spring.
